With such a rhythm of life as it is now, we sometimes do everything in a rush, on the run. In this case, the risk of staining your favorite clothes increases. If you eat on the go, rushing to work in the morning, or have a bite to eat while driving between tasks, greasy stains on your clothes are guaranteed.

Ways to remove fat

A greasy mark was left on your jacket. Just washing it in this case will not help, and not all jackets can be washed. The easiest way is to take the item to the dry cleaners. But it's not cheap and it's not fast. Consider what means and methods can remove traces of fat from the surface of the product at home.

To work, you will need the following tools:

  • Cotton discs.
  • Cloth napkins.
  • Sponges and soft brush.
  • Iron.

Stain removers:

  • Dishwashing liquid. This product is directly designed to combat various fats. Why not use it for fabric? Apply dishwashing liquid to the stain. With the help of a sponge or fabric rag, rub a little into the fabric and let it soak. Then we wash in the washing machine with the addition of a standard powder.
  • Laundry soap also works well on greasy dirt. They can be used in several different ways:
    1. Soap the contaminated surface, leave for a few minutes to soak, wash off the stain, then rinse the jacket in the machine.
    2. Using a grater, grind the soap and sprinkle the stained area with the resulting chips. Leave for about an hour for the soap to work. Then you need to remove the composition from the surface.
    3. Dilute the soap shavings in water and saturate the stain with it. Wait for the soap to start working. After that, wipe off the dirt with a white cloth. Wash item if necessary.
  • Stain removers. Special stain removers, which are presented in a huge assortment in stores, do a good job with traces of fat on the material of the jacket. "Vanish" or budget "Antipyatnin" is applied to the damaged area. If the pollution is old, you need to give the composition time to work, rub it with a cloth. Then you should wash the product with water and powder.
  • Starch. It must be mixed with water and the resulting paste applied to the fabric, after half an hour remove the residue with a sponge. If there is no starch powder in the house, you can use ordinary potatoes. It must be cut in half and wipe the stain with the juice that stands out on the surface until completely removed.
  • Another effective method is the impact ammonia. It is diluted with water in a ratio of 1 to 3. You need to moisten a cotton swab with this solution and clean the jacket. We remove the remaining liquid with a cloth.
  • Dentifrice mixed with water and applied to the stain. Then the material is ironed with a hot iron through a sheet of white paper. The paper is removed after at least 20 hours.
  • Lemon Works well on grease residue on clothes. Its juice is squeezed out for pollution. If necessary, rub with a sponge or soft brush and allow to dry.
  • Soda works well on fresh spots. We apply it to the surface, leave it for an hour so that it draws out the fat, and remove it with a brush.
  • Salt will also help out even with old pollution. We put the jacket in a basin of water and add 5 tablespoons of salt. We wait 20-30 minutes and wash in a machine with a regular powder.
  • You can get help gasoline. It is better to put a white cloth under the stain. Apply gasoline with a cotton pad. Then wash the item to get rid of the smell.

Old stains and heavily ingrained dirt in the fabric may not be affected by improvised means. And for those who like to keep chemicals at home, the following method is suitable: mix half a glass of ether and half a glass of magnesia and spread the resulting composition on the stain. After removing the smell, remove the residue from the surface of the jacket.

Features of cleaning different types of fabrics

Not every jacket can be washed or ironed. Therefore, it is necessary to use only those methods and means that will not damage your material:

  • Bolognese jacket. These products are very popular these days. They are inexpensive, have a large selection of colors and styles. A distinctive feature of the material is that it is synthetic. Such fabrics cannot be exposed to strong heat, aggressive stain removers, but in most cases they can be washed. Thus, it is better not to work with an iron on a jacket made of such material. To combat fat, we choose all sparing methods - soap, powder, Antipyatnin, soda. The best remedy in the fight against fatty contamination on a bologna jacket is table vinegar. They can rub the desired area, and then wash the product to get rid of the smell.

Places where the jacket is shiny from a greasy sheen (near the neck, at the ends of the sleeves) can also be treated with vinegar.

  • Leather Products. Leather and any of its substitutes are very capricious in cleaning. In no case should they be washed, treated with hard brushes and rubbed aggressively. Here it is more logical to remember about dry cleaning. But if you still dare to remove stains at home, you can use several methods:
    1. Starch is mixed with gasoline in a ratio of 1: 4. The resulting mixture is applied to the contaminated surface and allowed to dry. After that, gently, without pressing, remove the remnants of the product with a sponge.
    2. You can use medical alcohol. Saturate a cotton swab with it and wipe the grease stain.
    3. For old stains, you can prepare the following solution: mix denatured alcohol with turpentine in a ratio of 1 to 1 and add a couple of drops of glycerin. You can clean the jacket with a cloth dipped in the resulting solution.
    4. Sprinkle the dirt with flour. Leave the powder on the contamination for an hour, and then remove.
    5. Laundry soap in this case is also a universal and indispensable assistant. Clean the jacket with soapy water and leave to dry.

Now in stores there is a wide selection of cleaning products for leather products. Progress should not be neglected, and it is worth trying to take advantage of them.

  • Suede and tanned leather. Suede jackets can also be floured. But there is another folk remedy. It is necessary to prepare a solution of milk, soda and ammonia. Mix a small spoonful of soda powder in a glass of milk. It must be warmed up in order to better react. Add 2 drops of ammonia. We treat the oily surface with a cloth dipped in the resulting liquid.Grease from a tanned jacket can be removed with a regular eraser. Leather and suede salons sell special erasers for cleaning this type of fabric.

The main thing is that the surface of the suede jacket remains dry during this treatment.

  • Down jackets. This type of clothing is especially popular in the Russian winter. Bright and warm jackets, short and long, with natural fur and fabric inserts, flood cities with the arrival of cold weather. The main disadvantage in such a product is the impossibility of washing. After getting into the water, the natural filler can fall off, and the product will lose its presentable appearance. In this case, the fat must be removed without much water. Washing powder and laundry soap are good for spot washing. At the same time, try not to wet the thing abundantly.

If the stain is very ingrained, try applying chalk powder to the fabric first, leave it to work for an hour, and only then wash it. Drying can only be done naturally.

Tips

When cleaning, you need to follow some recommendations in order to remove fat most quickly and efficiently without damaging the thing:

  • When exposed to a jacket with potent agents (vinegar, gasoline, alcohol), you should work with special gloves.
  • Stains, if possible, should be removed as soon as possible after contamination.
  • Try any tool first on the wrong side of the product or in an inconspicuous part of it to avoid damage.
  • Check the label for cleaning instructions. This will help keep your product in its original form.
  • To prevent the fat from spreading over the larger surface of the jacket, you need to start processing from the edges to the middle of the stain.

You should always start processing with the application of a cleaning agent, and only then wash the product or wet it with water. This prevents the spread of fat through the material.
