Excess hair on the body is considered unpleasant and unaesthetic, especially in women. Since ancient times, representatives of both sexes have tried with all their might to get rid of it. There are many ways to destroy body hairs. One of them is hair removal at home.

What it is?

Epilation is a way to rid the body of excess vegetation by loosening the bulbs in any way or removing hairs along with the roots. Unlike depilation, which involves the removal of only the upper part of the hair, epilation is considered to be longer in time, more painful, but also more effective, which is important - especially for women.

The main advantage of hair removal at home is the simplicity of the procedure and its high efficiency. An important factor is the fact that the hair follicle is significantly destroyed, which allows you to slow down hair growth, and eventually even completely stop it.

You can perform this procedure in several different, but very effective ways (even without leaving the walls of your own home).

The best ways to remove body hair

It is possible to talk about which option of hair removal is better only subjectively, since each person chooses the most preferred method for himself. Speaking in general terms, to destroy facial hair (especially the antennae), it is best to use a home epilator or a paste made from granulated sugar.

Threading, that is, the removal of hairs with a thread, is also more intended for facial hair. This procedure, like the use of tweezers, takes a lot of time. She is very painful.

The most effective epilation for legs is the use of wax strips, masks or shugaring. The epilator has also proven itself well - both a regular one and a photoepilator for use at home.

The latest development in cosmetic medicine is elos epilation. The device with which the procedure is carried out can be easily used independently. This device combines all the advantages of laser and photoepilation, and there are practically no side effects.

Sugaring

Hair removal by using sugar paste (or shugaring) is rapidly gaining popularity. Firstly, such a procedure does not require large financial investments, secondly, it is very simple to perform, and thirdly, it is very effective.

The essence of this type of home hair removal is the preparation of a special paste of sugar, water and lemon juice, which is applied to the epidermis in a warm state. It can be applied and removed only by hand or with a special spatula and cloth strips (depending on the type of paste). Sometimes a small amount of honey is added to sugar, and lemon juice is replaced with the acid of the same name.

Sugar paste can be of three different types:

  1. Soft, that is, prepared from a small amount of granulated sugar. It has a rather liquid consistency, which is why it is only suitable for removing the finest hairs - for example, on the face or hands. This paste is applied and removed only with the fingertips.
  2. hard sugar paste, has a thicker consistency. It is usually used to remove excess hair from the bikini area and legs. It is applied with a spatula, and removed by a bandage method, that is, using rag strips.
  3. Medium hard paste Ideal for underarms and bikini area. It is applied by hand and removed either with cloth strips or by hand.

The features of such depilation are:

  • cheapness;
  • simplicity;
  • high efficiency;
  • low level of pain;
  • the ability to use in any area;
  • antibacterial effect;
  • lack of chemical ingredients;
  • no irritation and redness of the skin after the procedure.

The disadvantages of sugar hair removal include contraindications, which are present in a fairly large amount. Sugaring is not recommended for people with any skin lesions, suffering from diabetes, as well as people who tanned less than two days ago.

Sugaring is carried out in several stages:

  1. Skin scrubbing. This will help raise even ingrown hairs to the surface of the epidermis.
  2. Degreasing of the epidermis and its disinfection. It is enough to use ordinary hydrogen peroxide or Chlorhexidine. A cotton swab is moistened with this liquid, after which the necessary area of \u200b\u200bthe skin is wiped with it.
  3. The skin is then thoroughly dried., and its surface is treated with a small amount of talc for the body.
  4. Small piece of pasta applied to the prepared area of the body or face in the direction against the growth of hairs. The mixture is thoroughly rubbed.
  5. If necessary, pieces of fabric are superimposed on top of the mass, which are tightly pressed against the skin.
  6. Then the paste is abruptly removed from the skin along with vegetation (in the direction of hair growth).
  7. After graduation body procedures, the face is simply rinsed with cool water.

You can prepare a paste for sugar hair removal in several different ways.

Recipes for sugar hair removal paste

If you decide to perform this procedure for the first time, then it is better to prepare a little mixture in several different ways, and then actually evaluate the effectiveness of each remedy. During the primary cooking of pasta, it is recommended to reduce the amount of food by two or three times.

  • Mix 600 g of sugar and 200 g of water in a metal saucepan. The mixture is put on a slow fire and, with constant stirring, is brought to a boil. As soon as the syrup becomes light golden and the aroma of caramel appears, you will need to add lemon juice to the pan - in the amount of 3 tablespoons. The resulting mass is heated for another 3-5 minutes, then covered with a lid and left for another 15 minutes. After this period, the mixture is ready for use.
  • For very sensitive skin, the following recipe is suitable. The amount of sugar remains the same, and the water is changed to a concentrated decoction of chamomile, which is prepared from two tablespoons of dried flowers and one glass of water. The amount of lemon juice is also reduced by one spoon. In all other respects, sugar paste is prepared in the same way as in the previous case.
  • You can make a quick pasta in 10 minutes. To do this, immediately mix 10 tablespoons of sugar, one tablespoon of water and two tablespoons of lemon juice. The mixture is brought to a boil and simmered for another 8 minutes. After that, it is slightly cooled and used for its intended purpose.

No matter how effective sugar hair removal is, it should be understood that this is far from the only way to remove excess vegetation from the body at home.

wax

Two varieties can be distinguished: the use of ready-made wax strips or the use of self-melted wax.

In the first case, you will only need to purchase special strips in the store and follow the instructions on the package. It should be noted that ready-to-use strips are divided into several categories - depending on the part of the body for which they are intended.

In the second case, it is necessary to purchase wax strips, wax cartridges, talcum powder and a special wax melt. Cartridges are placed in the bowl of the device, where the product is melted. The wax is then gently spread over the body (using a spatula), which has been previously degreased and dusted with talcum powder. Special strips must be tightly glued onto still warm wax. After five minutes, you need to remove them with a sharp movement from the body against hair growth.

Hardware

Hair removal at home using special devices is the easiest and fastest. You just need to purchase a suitable device, turn it on and follow the instructions. If hardware hair removal at home is carried out for the first time, then it is best to purchase the simplest epilator. It is unlikely that it will be possible to remove hairs with its help forever, but it is quite possible to significantly slow down their growth.

For more experienced representatives of the fair sex, the device for ellos epilation is also perfect. It combines the functions of a photoepilator and a laser device. However, they can also be purchased separately. However, before purchasing such professional devices for home use, you still need to consult with a specialist. Only he will be able to tell you which device is most suitable for you.

Threading (thread)

This option for getting rid of excess vegetation involves the use of a thread, with which the hairs are removed from the root. This method is similar to pulling out hair with tweezers. It takes a lot of time, suitable for those parts of the body where there are not so many extra hairs. This method is quite painful.

It is best to use a special silk or cotton thread with an increased level of strength. The ends of the thread are tied, and she twists herself. The result is two rather large loops into which you need to insert your index and thumb. The smallest loop captures the hairs to be removed, and the thread itself moves on without breaking away from the skin. It is during this continuous movement of the thread that the removal of excess hairs occurs.

Folk recipes

There are many options for home waxing. Do not forget about folk recipes, which differ not only in their cheapness, but also in ease of use, as well as high efficiency.

The most popular is honey hair removal. It is very similar to the sugaring procedure. Pasta is cooked from honey and sugar, taken one glass at a time.When the mixture becomes homogeneous, add the juice of one large lime to it, mix thoroughly and remove from heat after 2 minutes. When the mass cools to a pleasant warmth, it is applied with a thin layer with a wooden spatula, and covered with a thin cloth on top. A few minutes later, the tissue is torn off with a sharp movement from the body against hair growth - along with the mass and hairs.

In Siberia, the resin of cedar trees has been used since ancient times to get rid of unwanted hair. In this case, the epilation process itself consisted in the fact that the collected resin was slightly heated in a water bath, then applied to the epidermis, covered with a cotton cloth on top, which was carefully smoothed on the skin. When the resin solidified, it, together with the fabric strip, was sharply torn off from the skin.

In some cases, gelatin has also been used for hair removal at home. There are several options for its use. The simplest is that gelatin is diluted with water - in an amount equal to half that indicated on the package. Then, using a cotton pad, the product is applied to certain areas of the skin, and after drying, the resulting film is removed with a sharp movement against hair growth.

This epilation option is suitable for removing excess facial hair.

Tips for preparing and holding at home

If you are going to start epilation on your own, you need to prepare the skin in the right areas of the body. A special gommage or scrub should be used, after which ingrown hairs are shown on the surface of the epidermis. Such peeling allows you to remove dead skin particles and makes epilation more effective.

Decontamination and disinfection of the skin are very important parts of the preparatory stage.It is best to use a cotton pad well soaked in "Chlorhexidine". Then the epidermis is dried and lightly powdered with talc. This allows you to evenly apply the mixture on the skin and slightly reduce pain during the procedure.

To reduce pain 20-40 minutes before the procedure, you can use special painkillers: sprays, lotions or gels. They will reduce pain, but will not reduce the effectiveness of the procedure.

How to relieve irritation?

If irritation occurs after hair removal at home, it should be dealt with as soon as possible. It is recommended to choose natural remedies for this.

Then you will need to lubricate the epidermis with any natural base oil or tea tree essential extract. Thermal water also copes well with newly appeared irritation.

If the irritation is strong, it is necessary to use pharmaceutical preparations - for example, "Panthenol" or "Baneotion».

To avoid irritation, immediately after the end of the procedure, rinse the skin with chamomile or calendula (decoction), wait until it dries naturally, and then sprinkle the epidermis with a small amount of baby talc.
