Toilet freshener: how to choose and hang it correctly?

Toilet fresheners come in a variety of forms. The most popular type of this product is an aerosol. The fact is that a product of this format is as convenient as possible to use. Its only drawback is called harm to the environment. Therefore, everyone who cares about the environment is trying to refuse aerosols and buy fresheners in the form of gels or even oils.

Another popular variety is the cleanliness discs. These are blocks for the toilet, which are attached under the toilet lid. They don't take up much space. The most popular are blocks in the form of stickers or hanging models.They, by the way, also quite effectively aromatize the air, killing all unpleasant odors.

Recently, such types of fresheners as electronic or electric are also interesting. These are models that are remotely controlled or even programmed to automatically flavor the air. A recent novelty is USB toilet fresheners. They are very tiny and resemble a compact flash drive. There are different types of fragrances that you can choose from now. There are practically no neutral odors, so you have to determine the most suitable one.

There are quite a few different flavors to share. into five main categories.

• Natural. This subgroup includes odors that are found in nature. That is, the aromas of the forest, the sea, rain, and so on. They are considered neutral and are suitable for installation in a public toilet or bathroom used by a large family. The aroma of such a freshener often resembles the smell of your favorite toothpaste.
• Citrus. This group includes aromas of citruses loved by many: oranges, grapefruits, lemons and so on. Such smells are very refreshing, which is why many people like them.
• Fruit. Fruit flavors are considered the most common. They are sweet, pleasant and very diverse.
• Floral. The scents of the flowers also help make the atmosphere in the bathroom more pleasant. You can choose something sweeter (like sakura or rose scents), or you can opt for a soothing lavender scent or fresh jasmine.
• Sweet. The last category is sweet fragrances. This subgroup includes vanilla-scented fresheners and other sweet scents. Not everyone likes them because of excessive cloying.

Having bought a freshener for the first time, many do not quite understand how to properly attach it. It all depends on the form in which it is sold. So, for example, a self-adhesive sticker is simply applied to the faience surface of the toilet bowl and fixed in this way.

Convenient to use and gels, which are sold complete with plastic bottles. This is the best option for those who do not know how to fix or hang air fresheners. The gel is poured into the vial. It must be carefully hung on the rim of the toilet. A standard tube of 100 milliliters is usually enough for 3-5 weeks, depending on how actively the toilet is used. As the product is consumed, the gel can be added to the box.

Despite the fact that there are different ready-made toilet fresheners, many people prefer to create them with their own hands in order to be sure of the quality and safety of the product.

To prepare the base of the freshener, you need to dissolve 10 grams of gelatin in 100 ml of water. Another 100 milliliters of water are mixed with soda, salt and dye. Both soda and salt need 25 grams each, but the dye is added at your discretion (you can do without it). This mixture is poured into separate molds, which must be left in the freezer for a couple of hours (until completely solidified).

After the sticks have hardened, they can be removed from the freezer. One will be actively used, and the rest can be wrapped in cling film and stored in the refrigerator.From this amount of products, as a rule, about four pieces of freshener are obtained.

In order for the toilet freshener to interrupt unpleasant odors, you need to add a few drops of aromatic oils to the mixture. They should be chosen, focusing not only on whether you like this or that aroma or not, but also on what effect the oil has.

Antiseptic properties have such oils as:

• pine;
• lemon;
• coniferous;
• eucalyptus;
• mint;
• grapefruit.

Lemon, lavender, thyme oils have an antiviral effect.

You can also use citronella, lavender, tea tree, or cinnamon oil to protect the surface of the toilet bowl from bacteria. True, you should be especially careful with cinnamon oil, because it has a very rich aroma, so you need to add quite a bit of it.

A toilet bowl freshener is a real necessity in a modern home or apartment. They are easy to install, do not need to be changed often, and there are so many flavors that you can choose the one that everyone will surely like.
