It doesn't matter who you are - a professional chef or an amateur cook, a housewife or just a person who is forced to cook for himself. In any case, it will not be possible to do without a pan. And since it is used, sooner or later the moment will come when something burns inside, so you need to be prepared for such a turn of events.

What are the types of pollution?

You can face the situation when the pan is burnt, regardless of the products and dishes that were in it. But first of all, it is necessary to disassemble the most frequent variants of pollution. They are, unfortunately, the most stubborn.

Often the dirt in the pans appears when rice is cooked. Removing such a burn is possible with vinegar, but keep in mind that this reagent is potent and can damage dishes if used carelessly or for too long. Just soak the remedy on the problem area exactly 60 minutes. More gentle substances are citric acid or freshly squeezed citrus juice.

An even more common remedy that most kitchens definitely have is baking soda. A concentrated solution of it is left inside until the next morning, and then the liquid is drained. Residual dirt can be easily scraped off or removed with a dishcloth.

Even lovers of rice porridge and pilaf periodically prepare preparations for the winter, for example, they cook various jams. But this product is also capable of delivering some difficulties, since it sticks to dishes very easily. A complex remedy consisting of 50 g of soda, 5 g of citric acid, 100 ml of the popular Whiteness remedy and a glass of warm water will help to deal with such blockage. It should be borne in mind that this composition is caustic and all manipulations must be carried out with rubber gloves (preferably in someone's presence).

First, the main active ingredients are mixed, then water is poured in, another mixing is carried out, the solution is placed in a saucepan and boiled over low heat for 15 or 20 minutes. It remains only to rinse the dishes under the tap, since the carbon deposits will be evaporated, and the color of the coating will turn out to be like that of the dishes just brought from the store.

But in addition to various soot deposits, dishes can also be covered with simply raids of an unaesthetically looking color.

From yellowness, the most ordinary soda excellently helps, which is sprinkled on the stain and immediately rubbed with a sponge. Citric acid is also a good remedy (after 15-20 minutes of treatment, it is enough to rinse the pan, as usual). In case of blackness, you need to immediately prepare a strong solution of laundry soap and boil problematic dishes for 15 to 30 minutes, then leave it to cool for several hours. If necessary, after a day, such cleaning is repeated, but it is not suitable for aluminum containers.

Now let's figure out how to eliminate blockages, caused by other foods and just long-term use:

  • if a layer of soot arose from milk, this is a very serious pollution, those who tried to remove it will immediately agree with this.Pharmaceutical activated charcoal comes to the rescue, a few tablets of which are sprinkled on the stain and washed off with cold water after half an hour. When there is no “coal”, there is no need to run to the pharmacy. Hold the water in the pan for 10-15 minutes, sprinkle the bottom with salt after draining. After soaking for 2-3 hours, shake the salt into a trash bag and rub the inner surface with the hard edge of the sponge;
  • from time to time you have to figure out how to free the pans from the captivity of old fat. In addition to ready-made household chemicals, a melamine sponge may be useful for this purpose, but it is recommended to treat only the outside of the kitchen utensils with abrasive products. Often the pot is boiled in a weak solution of soda for two hours over low heat. Exposure to alkali at elevated temperatures facilitates washing and removing the stain;
  • caramel deposits are removed using a paste of soda and salt diluted in a soapy solution, or by boiling dishes in a strong saline solution, to which a little soda is added. Soaking in diluted citric acid for 5-6 hours may help beforehand;
  • its chemical antagonist, vinegar, will help remove the layer of scale: pour 100 g of acid into a saucepan filled almost to the brim, carefully boil the solution. After dissolving the scale, drain the liquid, wash the dishes, as usual with heavy pollution, and then rinse under the tap;
  • the appearance of a layer of ingrained dirt is no better than the appearance of scale or plaque. Faithful allies in the fight against it are a combination of soda and citric acid. This combination covers the surface of a richly moistened pan, and in a matter of minutes it remains only to wash it off and rinse, as you always do.

What can be cleaned?

Chemical factories produce dozens of different products that allow you to clean kitchen utensils and utensils from food debris and even its small traces. But in any case, all formulations contain either formaldehyde, or surfactants, or acids, and therefore cannot be considered safe. There are other effective ways, while much more environmentally friendly:

  • the most common table salt comes to the rescue: it will take a lot. The salt layer must be slightly moistened and left for several hours, and preferably until the morning (or until the evening, according to the circumstances). After aging, the salt is washed off, the pan is cleaned with a sponge;
  • enhanced version: preparation of a strong solution, which is boiled and left until morning, then the crust can be removed with an ordinary wooden spatula. Treatment with soda is always more effective than table salt, a glass of powder is consumed per 1.5 liters of water, the principle of operation is the same;
  • when this remedy does not help, you can use "heavy artillery", that is, introduce vinegar. 50 g of soda ash and 90 g of acetic acid are added per liter of water (take it without dilution). Water with such additives should be boiled for no more than 15 minutes. The solution is immediately poured into the toilet, the surface is cleaned with a sponge, washed under running cold water and wiped dry;

For your information: this method is not very suitable for enameled pans, it should be used with caution and without overdoing the prescribed time.

  • considerable support in restoring order can be provided not only by soda, but also by coffee, more precisely, the thick of a ground drink. It is possible to wash burnt products with water, having previously withstood this thick layer on the surface of the stain for a long time.If you are not a coffee lover or you don’t have it at hand at the moment, boiling chopped large onions in a dirty saucepan will bring considerable benefits. It will, of course, be unsuitable for ingestion, however, soot can be cleaned off more easily. An alternative to onions is the peel of apples and potatoes, only it must be boiled for at least 30-40 minutes. When there are no cleanings, a tablespoon of citric acid will help out;
  • of liquid products that help wash burnt pans, pay attention to Coca-Cola. Fill the dishes with it for 120 minutes, and to make the effect stronger, slowly boil all this time;
  • no worse than the recipes invented by an American pharmacist, it turns out to be such an ancient remedy as ash. Water is added to it to make it look like porridge in consistency and spread evenly over the bottom. After an hour, you can fill the pan with 1/4 water, which is brought to a boil and kept on the lowest heat for another 60 minutes;
  • instead of ash, you can use crushed or crushed activated carbon (sold at any pharmacy without a prescription);
  • cleaning with toothpaste or tooth powder is recommended if the bottom and walls are covered with yellow spots that have not come off after the main cleaning.

If there is no desire to transfer oral hygiene products, there is an even more powerful way to clean pots with stationery glue. The method is something like this:

  • in a large container, mix 10 liters of water, liquid glue (the whole package), a glass of baking soda and a briquette of laundry soap;
  • a metal basin is boiled;
  • after boiling, one or more pots are boiled in a solution for at least 15 minutes, a maximum of 180 minutes;
  • turn off gas or electricity, wait for the container to cool;
  • when the liquid has cooled, the pans are removed, thoroughly worked with washcloths or sponges so that there is no trace of carbon deposits.

However, it is unacceptable to tidy dishes that have a Teflon coating in this way. It will be irreversibly damaged and will not be able to perform its functions. The easiest way to wash steel pans is that dirt is removed from them even with ordinary detergents very quickly.

The peel soaked with the addition of the gel comes off by itself, only a slight application of force is enough.

It happens, however, that even well-cleaned steel dishes are dirty to the limit (due to neglect or exposure to a very stable product - it does not matter). Then you can make a thick mixture (like porridge) from baking soda diluted with water. The burnt area is smeared with a workpiece, and after a certain period the soot will come off under the action of a hard washcloth. Another way is to boil water, to which 2 tablespoons of soda of any kind are added for 15 minutes.

The external deposits on a steel pan are cleaned by boiling it itself in a larger vessel, into which 2/3 of water and 1/3 of vinegar essence are poured. The resulting solution should completely cover the dirty area. After heating, the liquid is left to cool, preparing only a mixture of a glass of baking soda with 1/2 cup of table salt. Add some vinegar on top and scrub the bottom of the cooled pot.

If a white coating remains at the end of cleaning, gently pour vinegar on the cloth and wipe off stains or stains.

In a universal way, coping with almost all pollution, it turns out laundry soap. Unlike the same soda, it acts on fats, proteins and carbohydrates not only as an alkali, but also as a surfactant.Any of the boiling methods just shown will work better with the addition of soap shavings. There is also such a way: boil 3 liters of water, pour 50 g of soap and 30 g of PVA glue into it after boiling. The resulting preparation should be boiled for at least 1/2 hour in a soot-covered dish. If you put the pan itself in a metal bucket, you can wash it even from the outside.

Suppose there was no PVA in the house, then they do this:

  • take half a standard bar of laundry soap;
  • rub it on a grater, mixer or fork until a homogeneous powder;
  • add 0.15-0.2 kg of soda, stir again;
  • boil water in a soot-covered dish with the addition of three tablespoons of pasta.

The advantage of this option is that the mixture can be prepared in advance (on the eve of the holidays, say). Store it in an ordinary glass jar with a tightly closed lid.

How to quickly clean dishes?

In order to choose the right cleaning method and not damage either the base material or the coating, everything should be thoroughly thought through. Prepare rubber gloves for work to keep your hands clean and healthy. From the tools you will need sponges and soft washcloths (hard abrasives can scratch even the most durable pan walls). Remove the crust of soot inside should not be with a knife, but with a wooden spatula, so you will get rid of burning without parting with the coatings. Cleaning wipes will help to complete the cleaning and give a radiant shine. But after all, not only walls can burn.

A very big problem is to wash the bottom at home. You can, of course, wipe it from burning with sand, abrasive powders or pumice, but these are not the best ways. Connoisseurs recommend simpler, safer and easier ways. Primarily, boiling in a solution of soda the whole pan at once.

If you need to clean the outside of a badly burnt container, add vinegar or soap to reinforce the effect of the baking soda.

The most important principle in handling enamel pots is cleaning speed. After a few hours, it will be much more difficult to remove the dirt (even soaking in water does not help). But at the same time, the vessel must cool itself, without cooling with running water and other tricks. Otherwise, the enamel will crack, and burning from an accidental unpleasant event will turn into a constant source of problems. Hard brushes and, in general, any treatment with abrasive means are strictly unacceptable.

Washing an aluminum pan is very difficult, since any dirt instantly eats into the material. Fortunately, winged metal cookware rarely burns. If such an incident overtakes you, place the pan on a wet, unnecessary cloth for 20-30 minutes to make washing easier. In the meantime, it stands, you can think about which way to solve the problem is best to choose.

The first method is very simple - half an hour boiling in a saucepan a solution of 25 g of soda ash. It can also be mixed with utensils to a creamy consistency, add 60 g of hydrogen peroxide and cover the problem area with a layer of the resulting paste. Wait 5 minutes, clean the dirt with a washcloth and rinse the dishes under running water. It happens, unfortunately, that all these methods do not work. Then enters the fight a combination of tablespoons of soda and silicate glue, which is also diluted with water and boiled for 1/2 hour.

After cleaning an aluminum pan, a dark coating may appear in it.They cope with it like this: 15 g of borax, 15 g of ammonia are put on 300 g of water, and the walls are smeared with this mixture. Then, when 30 minutes have passed, the pan should be thoroughly washed.

If there is no desire to engage in "chemical experiments", fill the container with curdled milk or any kind of brine. An hour will be enough to leave only memories of the raid.

Activated charcoal is completely safe for pans of any kind: grind 3 tablets of it to a powder state, sprinkle it with soot and wait about 40 minutes. Next, pour in cold water and wait half an hour, then rinse the dishes. So the most stubborn dirt can be removed. If there is enough time, and there is no desire to make an effort at all, whey will support you. The stain is covered with it by 20-30 mm, left unattended for 12 hours. After such treatment (without any boiling), the soot layer is washed off with ordinary cold water.

Cast iron cookware is cleaned fundamentally differently than those made from other materials. It is advisable to avoid washing it and ingress of liquid, since water, penetrating into the smallest pores, will immediately cause powerful corrosion.

Soaking in a soap solution, leaving a wet pan after cleaning, counting on its independent drying, is out of the question!

For washing, if necessary, use warm water and a soft sponge. Burnt food is removed by adding water to the top of the contamination, bringing it to a boil. Then, after allowing to cool, the dirty liquid is drained, the rest of the soot is removed with dishwashing napkins or paper towels. The inside is wiped dry and the pan is put away in the place allotted for it.

You can wash the lid in the same way as the dishes for which it is made (in most cases). Glass lids are most often cleaned with a combination of dishwashing detergent and mild abrasive powder. When there is no powder and if you want to farm in an environmentally friendly way, soda ash will come to the rescue.

Glassware itself successfully gets rid of dirt when using ammonia; after its application, the glass surface is dried with a flannel cloth, additional rinsing is not required.

Tips & Tricks

It is important to know that not all pot cleaning methods are created equal. Never use metal brushes (except when working with cast iron cookware). Both enamel and thin aluminum will be irreversibly damaged. The pan will also become unusable after cleaning it with a knife or other sharp object. Under the ban is the use of products that are released for cleaning gas and electric stoves, microwaves, ovens: they leave invisible particles that are very difficult to wash off.

A useful trick that sometimes prevents the appearance of burning even on the most “capricious” enameled pans - do not leave them on hot stoves and tiles, and also put them on the fire empty. Raw potatoes can easily add shine to stainless pans, with a small piece of which you need to run along all the walls.

Having found water streaks, you should not be upset either - they are removed with table vinegar applied to a soft sponge.

Deep-rooted stains will be removed by a uniform mixture of ammonia and tooth powder, which must be rubbed with a napkin. In the end, it remains to wash off the dirt and the cleaning agent with warm water.
