The bathroom is a room in which the conditions are somewhat specific and different from those in other rooms. Mostly in this room there is often high humidity, a relatively high temperature due to hot steam, and the surfaces of furniture and objects often come into contact with drops of water.

Of course, things that are constantly in the bathroom require especially careful care. Bath and shower curtain is a practical and decorative element of the interior, the appearance and sanitary condition of which undoubtedly require special attention.

This article will discuss the rules for caring for a curtain in the bathroom. Of course, you can throw away the curtain at the first visible sign of dirt and replace it with a new one. This option is by no means bad. However, it is not always convenient and desirable, and besides, it is very expensive, because curtains made of high-quality and beautiful material are not so cheap.

First of all, it is worth listing the pollution that you may encounter when examining your curtain:

• Yellowness and rust. Usually such troubles are struck by the bottom of the curtain. Vinyl curtains are especially susceptible to such contamination.

1. Thoroughly wipe all the drops on the curtain and ventilate the shower room is not always convenient and feasible. This takes time and effort. But in a large family, the bathroom is used several times a day, and it is almost impossible to carry out all preventive measures.
2. In the fight against fungus and mold in conditions of high humidity, unfortunately, one cannot do without antiseptics. And the use of antiseptics will require additional costs, and in general it is undesirable, since these drugs are not very useful for the human body.

The shower curtain can be washed in different ways, depending on the type, degree of soiling and the type of material from which the curtain itself is made:

Such processing must be carried out along the entire length on both sides.

After that, the curtain should be rinsed in warm water. It is not necessary to wring out and unscrew the washed curtain. It must be hung vertically over the bath and wait until the water drains. The wet curtain can be dried outdoors or in a dry room.

• Oilcloth polyethylene curtains do not tolerate machine washing. They can only be washed by hand.Wash the oilcloth in the bathroom or basin in the same way as described above. It is better not to treat polyethylene material with bleaching agents; they can be replaced with weak acidic solutions or soda.

If you decide to wash the curtain in the bathroom at home, you should remember and follow the basic recommendations regarding the care of such products:

• Try to ventilate the bathroom from time to time. This is useful not only for the shower curtain, but also for other furniture and items in your bathroom.
• When working with detergents and cleaning products, use protective gloves to avoid an allergic reaction or skin irritation on your hands.
• When cleaning the curtains from mold and fungus, it is advisable to use a medical mask or respirator. The spores of these organisms are able to spread through the air, and it is best to protect yourself from inhaling these microscopic particles.

• Polyethylene curtains need the most frequent cleaning and washing. Their material is the thinnest, and more than other types are subject to the penetration of contaminants and microorganisms into the fibers.
• Do not wash curtains of any material in cold or hot water. Cold water will compress the fibers of the material, and this will not allow the curtain to be washed well from stubborn dirt. Hot water can deform synthetic material. The exception is fabric products, they can be washed at temperatures up to 60 degrees. However, in any case, check the recommendations on the product label.

• After washing, you can soak the curtain in a saline solution, and, without washing it off, dry the curtain. Salt will create a protective layer on the surface of the curtain, which will repel bacteria and dirt from itself for some time.
• Before any type of washing, it is better to remove all rings from the curtain. When machine washed, they can detach from the curtain and damage the drum or break, because they are often made of plastic. And when washing by hand, they will interfere with you.
