Clothes in Russian style
Ethnic motifs from different parts of the world always add zest to the image. Skillfully using elements of folk costumes, you can demonstrate your delicate taste to others. Russian-style clothing looks elegant and, of course, emphasizes patriotism.
What it is
The originality of clothing styles and patterns in Russia developed many centuries ago, but Russia style entered the world stage as a fashion trend after the 1917 Revolution. The intelligentsia left the country en masse, taking traditional Russian costumes with them to Europe, the USA, Latin America.
Bright patterns, rich decor, nobility of fabrics and practicality won the hearts of foreigners.
Distinctive features of the a la russe style:
- Loose fitting clothing. Bell skirt, flared at the bottom, dress with a cut under the bust, dress with wide straps, straight fit shirt.
- Collar - turn-down, rounded. The sleeves are narrow and long or lush "lanterns".
- Use of natural fabrics: cotton, linen, silk, wool, down, leather. Mandatory use of natural fur: arctic fox, sable, fox, bear, hare.
- Cross stitch embroidery on clothes. Decoration of clothes with beaded patterns, beads, laces, tassels.
- Bright colors. Preferred colors: white, red, black, yellow (gold). Khokhloma painting, Gzhel, Palekh are classic examples of Russian coloring and an inexhaustible source of ideas for designers.
It is worth noting that these details are typical not only for the Russian folk, but also for the Slavic costume as a whole. Many peoples of the “brothers of the Slavs” have very similar clothes. .
Of course, in the course of history, the Russian national costume has changed. Old Russian clothes were much simpler than samples of the 17th-18th centuries. However, the philosophy remained unchanged: simplicity, practicality and warmth, combined with ... beauty! Even the poorest peasant women decorated their modest shirts and sundresses as best they could.
Tradition in modern style
Of course, today no one wears sundresses and braids to the waist. However, if you want to add a bit of national color and luxury to the image, this can be done easily!
Let's start with outerwear. A winter coat or a Russian-style coat will look luxurious. Fur coats are distinguished by a straight cut (but the waist is emphasized with a belt), a long sleeve with a cuff, a rounded turn-down collar.
A coat made of natural fabric can also have fur trim on the collar and cuffs. Coats look regal, embroidered with bright floral patterns, complemented by velvet or silk.
The length of the coat or fur coat "a la Russe" can be any: short fur coat / short coat to the waist line, to the middle of the thigh, to the middle of the calf or "to the floor". In any case, to create a national color, outerwear is combined with a dress or a maxi skirt, you can use a contrasting shade. Girls who wear long skirts instead of trousers in winter note that this is, of course, impractical, but very warm!
If you want to create a "Russian style" based on your everyday clothes, use accessories. First of all, of course, scarves. A plain black or white "mink" will bloom and decorate with a bright Pavlovo Posad shawl or shawl. It can simply peek out from behind the collar, it can be thrown over the shoulders from above and intercepted by a brooch. But best of all, such a scarf in combination with a fur coat looks on the head. Such an image will require a neat and bright make-up, but no one will remain indifferent!
For light coats (for example, gray or bluish), a downy scarf is ideal, for example, the original Orenburg downy shawl. If you also buy downy knitted gloves for the scarf, you get a real image of the Snow Maiden.
In addition to scarves, the best Russian-style headdress is a fur hat. A classic round voluminous headdress will adorn almost any girl. A more practical model is a women's hat made of leather, trimmed with fur along the edge.
The image will complement the original shoes. A classic, of course, are knee-length red boots with a small, stable heel with a sharp and slightly curved toe.
These boots can be decorated with embroidery or decorative stitching. It is not easy to find such models in direct sales - various “craftsmen's fairs” can help, where you can buy handmade boots or order them by individual measure.
In stores, you can find plain classic red boots in orange, ocher. Available in black suede models with embroidery - this is also a stylish option.
By the way, many companies today produce beautiful and modern felt boots, decorated with embroidery, felted wool flowers, appliqué. Most often, they are made on a practical sole made of TPE - you can easily drive a car in such felt boots!
To create a Russian style, various vests, capes, shower jackets, boleros and ponchos, trimmed with embroidery and trimmed with fur, are perfect.
For summer wear, you can choose a shirt / blouse, skirt or dress, designed in ethnic style, but modern enough not to look stupid.
A blouse or shirt will fit long enough, to the middle of the thighs, preferably with a drawstring belt around the waist. Embroidery in bright blue or red along the collar line, in the center, along the fastener, on the sleeves. The sleeve, ideal in style, is ¾, puffy with an elastic band at the elbow. Instead of embroidery, there may be hemstitch or beads.
For an office where there is no too strict dress code, this blouse can be worn in combination with a discreet red or blue skirt or simple trousers. Classic jeans without "holes" and "scuffs" will also not spoil the image.
Dresses for women of traditional cut are perfect clothes for holidays, recreation, wearing in the country. Ethno-style is now fashionable, so on sale you can find dresses made of staples, patchwork or one-piece, sewn exactly as they did 3-4 centuries ago. Such an outfit has a long loose sleeve, and in front of the cut-off dress is not under the chest, but even above it. This style will surely appeal to plump girls, perfect for pregnant women at any time. However, on slender and tall girls, such dresses also look very beautiful, because. hide the figure in the folds of the fabric, giving the image a mystery. If desired, you can intercept the waist with a belt.
For a formal occasion, dresses with a more fitted cut are suitable. As a rule, in such models, a floor-length skirt is combined with a long sleeve, which is decorated along the entire length with embroidery or ornaments. The belt is similarly decorated.
For bold looks, you can find chest sundresses - a long skirt with a belt and straps, which is worn in combination with a white blouse.
A skirt in the Russian style is certainly bright, on the floor, wide cut. Usually done on a drawstring at the waist. Decorated with wide lace, embroidery, ribbons. For those who want a "folk skirt in a new way", there are options for short and puffy skirts made of brightly colored fabric. On the catwalks you can also see office-style skirts made of fabric with a Russian pattern.
Russia Style haute couture
The bright and original Russian folk style has been haunting fashion designers around the world for several decades. One of the most famous collections of maestro Yves Saint Laurent was called "Russian Operas and Ballets", which he presented in 1976. The master himself considered it his most beautiful work. In it, he used puffy long skirts with leather belts, fur hats, vests, boots, painted scarves. In the same year, the collections of fashion houses Dior, Ungaro, Lanvin were replenished with clothing models with elements of the old Russian style.
Domestic designers, of course, support Russia style more actively than others.
Vyacheslav Zaitsev is the brightest representative of the Russian style in fashion. None of his collection is complete without one or another variation of the traditional costume.
Denis Simachev weaves elements of Russian style into hooligan street fashion. This is for the young, the bright, the brave. Soviet symbols are also actively used in his collections.
But designer clothes from Alena Akhmadullina will not leave indifferent gentle, sophisticated young ladies. A cursory glance at the assortment of her store is enough to see skirts and dresses of a traditional cut, printed coats, sundresses. Modern materials allow you to wear all this beauty while living in a dynamic metropolis.
Ulyana Sergeenko's collections are distinguished by originality and elegance, as well as what she wears herself. All Russian aesthetics - cut, fabric colors, accessories - in her reading look elegant and sexy, but without the slightest touch of vulgarity. It is difficult to find a basic item in her collections - they are all bright, “for a special day”. However, in this style, every day has every right to be “special”.
