This style of clothing originated in the 40s and 50s of the last century among children from wealthy families who wanted to be educated at privileged Ivy League schools, such as the famous education stoker college. The term "preppy" comes from the English word preparatory (preliminary) and it means, if interpreted literally, "a graduate of a secondary private school." Future students aspired to study in the most prestigious educational institutions and therefore thoroughly monitored both their academic performance and their appearance, lifestyle, and manners. They observed family traditions, were fond of useful sports, knew and observed etiquette very well. Therefore, this style can be called not just a fashion trend, but even an independent youth subculture.

Initially, the preppy style was distinguished by elements of clothing with a rustic cut and cut, made from high quality natural materials, which had a very simple classic cut. Coquetry, frankness and bright accents were not allowed for such an image, the usual grooming and simplicity were a characteristic feature.
