Facial scrub selection

What is and why is it needed

As you know, to maintain the skin in a healthy and beautiful form, it must be cleaned periodically. Of course, any knowledgeable girl knows about this - she washes off her makeup with milk or micellar water, and then she washes herself with a special gel and foam. But, as a rule, these manipulations are not enough - even if we are talking about very high-quality cleansers. From time to time, our skin needs a deeper cleansing. For this, various scrubs are used. Scrub (Scrub) is translated from English as “rub”, “clean”.

This tool is engaged in the fact that it removes dead cells from the surface of the epidermis, allows the skin to breathe, cleans the pores. Maintains skin elasticity, evens out skin tone and hides redness. In other words, without a scrub, deep cleansing of the face is impossible.

In addition to the face, there are also scrubs for the lips, body, legs, hands - and all of them are aimed at exfoliating dead cells and increasing blood flow. They allow the skin to breathe, which is useful.

Scrubs are selected individually for each skin type - almost every brand also has a men's scrub. Men's products differ from women's products in that they tend to be slightly harsher or associated with the shaving procedure.

Kinds

In order to make it easier to choose scrubs, they, like any cosmetic products, are divided according to their purpose into several types:

  1. from black dots. It is aimed specifically at cleaning pores and closing them.It is applied to pre-steamed skin or directly in the bath to problem areas - nose, forehead, chin, sometimes cheeks, the area around the eyebrows.
  2. Cleaning. If the scrub formula is light and the particles are small, then it can be suitable as a refreshing daily option for problem skin.
  3. Exfoliating. Narrows pores and removes dead cells of the epidermis, inhibits the formation of sebum on the surface. Smoothes the skin, has a rejuvenating effect.
  4. From acne. Eliminates acne and blackheads by drying them, also cleans the pores, thereby preventing the formation of new acne.
  5. Bleaching. Its main goal is to whiten post-acne spots or age spots.
  6. Gommage. The most gentle way of cleansing, which also phenomenally moisturizes and nourishes it. If you use it regularly, you can notice the disappearance of fine wrinkles and a polishing effect.
  7. Acid. It acts on the skin as a symbiosis of a cleansing, whitening and acne scrub due to the presence of AHA and BHA acids in the composition. You should use such a scrub no more than twice a week, and then use sunscreen - acids are not compatible with the sun, this is very important.
  8. Softening. It works by removing the keratinized layer of the skin, very similar in action to the exfoliating, but less rough, so it is also suitable for sensitive and dry skin.

And in terms of consistency:

  1. Gel. They are similar in consistency to a regular washing gel, but scrubbing particles of different sizes come as a bonus. They are universal, but most often used by ladies with normal, problem-free skin.
  2. Rolls. It differs from ordinary scrubs or peels in that it does not contain any abrasive particles. That is, granules or seeds are not found here.Rolling agents act due to the cellulose in the composition. The roll is applied to the dry skin of the face with massage movements, the cellulose rolls off, forming small lumps, and takes with it all the filth that is on your skin. A very interesting option for sensitive facial skin, and if the roll contains acids or essential oils, then for oily skin.
  3. Clay. Suitable for oily or combination skin, as it is clay that actively fights oiliness and pore pollution. Since such skin requires more thorough care anyway, such scrubs are used three to four times a week.
  4. Cream with bones. Suitable for all skin types, but best for dry skin. Cleansing occurs due to fruit or berry seeds (raspberry, apricot, grapes, sea salt, chopped nuts, ground coffee are also used), and the creamy texture softens their effect on the skin, thus creating the perfect balance. A great alternative to glossy scrubs when it comes to oily skin.

Selection for different types of skin

Creams, masks, oils, peels, scrubs - all this is impossible to choose correctly without knowing your skin type.

For normal skin, products based on coffee beans and berry or fruit seeds are suitable.

For oily and combination skin, matting products that regulate the functioning of the sebaceous glands are suitable. They should be clay or cream-based with stones. It will be just fine if the scrub is acidic - with BHA or AHA acids. It is they who are best able to penetrate into the ducts of the sebaceous glands and cleanse them, remove pollution. Lemon is also a great ingredient. The scrub can be left on for a couple of minutes as a mask.

For dry and sensitive skin, a hypoallergenic scrub is suitable, gently polishing peeling. You need to scrub this type much less often and more carefully. The ideal ingredients here are honey and berry pits as abrasive particles in a creamy base. Pay attention to gommage.

A little life hack - if you scrub the area around before painting your eyebrows, then the paint will lie better.

Recommendations for use

Before using any cosmetic, read the recommendations for use and contraindications - after all, it's about your beauty. Like any cosmetics, scrub carries both harm and benefit. Its useful features include, of course, deep cleansing of the skin.

If you have normal, oily or combination skin, then you can use the scrub once or twice a week. But if you have blackheads or open inflammations, treat them first, and only then use cleaning. An alternative option could be clay masks - white, black, green, you need to keep them for 15-20 minutes.

If you have dry skin - no more than once every two weeks.

Use the scrub at night to avoid clogging the pores with dust and dirt from the street, as well as to soothe possible redness.

Apply the scrub, avoiding the area around the eyes and lips. If you do not have dry and sensitive skin, pay special attention to the T-zone - nose, forehead, chin. Massage there more thoroughly, but in general - no more than 2 minutes.

Do not leave the scrub on your face for more than 10 minutes. Wash off with cool water. After use, always apply a pore-closing product and a moisturizer on top. This will prolong the cleanliness of the face without overdrying.

Contraindications

You should carefully use scrubs and any facial cleansers if:

  1. You have acne. Exfoliation can further aggravate the situation with open inflammation or skin diseases. Opt for soft rolls or peels, and scrub infrequently - a maximum of once or twice a week, and then lightly.
  2. If you feel a burning sensation or a feeling of tightness, immediately wash off the product and apply a moisturizer or carrier oil to the skin.
  3. If you have thin and sensitive skin. Same as in the first paragraph.
  4. Couperose. This will only make the problem worse. Consult a beautician, there you will definitely find the best way to cleanse.

Before using a new scrub, test it on the crook of your elbow or wrist. Apply according to manufacturer's recommendation. If everything is in order with the skin in this place in a day, feel free to apply a scrub on your face. By the way, very often manufacturers write on the back of the label how often this procedure can be done. If you have chosen a remedy for your skin type, listen to the recommendations.

Don't overuse scrubs. This can lead to thinning of the skin.
