Wedge sundress
Russia boasts an unusually rich history, not only political but also fashionable. It is now customary to call several elements of women's clothing primordially Russian - letnik, shushpan, body warmer, dragging, poneva, hall and, of course, a slanting sundress. The last element of the wardrobe has entered the ranks of the national ones and is so original and interesting that I would like to talk about it separately.
A bit of history
The term "sarafan" was first noticed by historians in Russian writings of the 17th century. And this term was called a female element of clothing - a one-piece dress worn over the head, which could be either with or without sleeves. But clothes exclusively with straps were called in those days in a completely different way - sukman, feryaz, saiyan, fur coat.
Women wore wedge-shaped sundresses until the beginning of the 20th century and they were long trapezoidal or straight-cut robes, which were necessarily fastened with buttons and fabric loops from edge to edge. The main feature of the sundress was the slanting wedges on the sides from which it inherited its original name. It is interesting that the straps were sewn in those days to a small ledge on the back, which was called a mouse, fork or armhole.
In those days, it was customary to combine a kosoklminny sundress with an elongated shirt and a kokoshnik. It is curious that this sundress for a long time served as a garment for a poor part of the population of Russia. From the beginning of the 18th century, it was mainly worn by people of the older generation, and by the beginning of the 20s of the last century, it was almost completely replaced by other elements of clothing.
Model Features
The decorative features of the wedge-shaped sundress deserve special attention. This type of clothing has always been distinguished by the brightness of colors and originality of patterns. Most often, sundresses depicted flowers that were dressed in a multi-colored edging. Often, sundresses were tied with ribbons and bows, giving the appearance of the girl femininity and naivety.
But the quality of the material often determined the degree of prosperity of the young lady. Girls from the richest families wore velvet, silk and brocade models. Young ladies of the middle class could afford to wear sarafans from garus, and the poorest girls were content with outfits sewn from chintz. But the most solid were white sundresses, on which flowers were embroidered with gold threads.
It is worth considering that warmer models of sundresses were complemented by a dense lining, which was sometimes quilted. They were sewn from dense fabrics, most often from natural wool. Festive outfits were often complemented with lace ribbons or fringed ribbons. On weekdays, contrasting textile ribbons were used, which were tied with a bow or knot.
Who will suit
Absolutely any girl looks great in a slanted sundress, regardless of age and build. Free cut and soft texture ensure smoothness and ease of movement, and due to the versatility of the decor, any, even the most significant figure flaws are hidden. The only thing a woman should take care of when choosing such a sundress is the selection of a suitable size for herself.
Fashion trends
In the history of Russian fashion, skew-wedge sundresses entered unusually bright and colorful. In ancient times, the most trendy was the red hue, which was often supplemented with a golden ornament. There were also snow-white models with a golden ornament along the edge, as well as dark blue specimens that combined shades of red. In addition, the trend was yellow, brown, black, orange and brown shades.
With what and where to wear
Nowadays, wedged sundresses are also created by designers, because they are an appropriate outfit for children's parties, folk festivals and other themed events. In the process of tailoring, fashion designers use more modern materials, but they do not change the design features of the outfit. The universal decorative adornment of the outfit, as before, is embroidery.
It is customary to combine a skew-wedge sundress with a white tunic or cotton shirt. In a more modern version, a white blouse and sandals would be appropriate. In winter, this element of the wardrobe is complemented by a fur coat or a warm jacket, as well as boots.
It is desirable that the shoes are also native Russian. In the warm version, these can be shoes or chebots, and in the summer version - bast shoes, ichigi, pistons. It is worth considering that almost all types of leather shoes were created, so in the process of selecting the perfect combination, it is better to take this moment into account.
Stylish images
Jewelry will become a stylish addition to the Russian image. It can be long plastic or metal beads, as well as earrings and bracelets.A lace kokoshnik will perfectly complement the original Russian image, and in a modern interpretation it is better to complement the outfit with a silk scarf.
