In the cold season, it is so easy to catch a cold, especially if outerwear does not meet warming standards. A warm coat is the key to health! This is exactly what eminent designers say this season, and it’s hard to disagree with them. In the process of creating this type of clothing, fashion designers use dense and warm materials that warm even in the most severe frosts. But what should fashionistas know if they want to choose the warmest coat possible?

Review of fabrics: which coats are the warmest

Wool coats were considered the warmest at all times, but the difficulty is that coats made of 100% of this material are very rare, and if you can find them, they are fabulously expensive. And the practicality of woolen coats is a big question - with improper care, they immediately decrease in size, and over time roll down and become unmarketable. It is much easier and more correct to purchase outerwear that combines several warm materials at once.

An integral feature of a really warm coat is also a filler. The warmest of the currently known is Waltherm, more popularly known as bio down. This modern material, in addition to environmental safety, strength and lightness, has a whole host of unique insulating properties.By preventing the penetration of cold air from the outside, this material maintains optimal body temperature without creating a greenhouse effect. What other materials are winter coats made of?

Polyester

Polyester is the most commonly used synthetic material in the clothing industry. It is beneficial to sew a coat from it for several reasons: it does not wrinkle, perfectly retains moisture, keeping body temperature at a comfortable level for a person, and is extremely practical. But there is one thing - in its pure form, this material absolutely does not allow air to pass through, therefore it contributes to sweating. This problem is solved with the help of an insulating lining, which enhances the heat transfer properties of the material. If the lining is fleece and the insulation is of good quality, a polyester coat can be even warmer than a wool coat.

Raincoat

Material such as raincoat fabric performs well in strong winds, so windbreakers and raincoats are most often made from it. In the case of a coat, this material, or rather a product made from it, has to be additionally insulated and the synthetic winterizer does an excellent job with this task. Outwardly, raincoat coats on synthetic winterizer look like simple elongated jackets or down jackets, but designers are always trying to add some zest to the most ordinary clothes.

This season, quilted models, as well as trimmed with fur, are considered especially fashionable. The main advantage of a garment made of this material is its extraordinary weight lightness.

cashmere

The material that is traditionally used to create coats is cashmere. Soft and pleasant to the touch fabric made from mountain goat down perfectly warms in the cold season. An additional advantage is that this material cannot cause allergies and is extremely durable. But cashmere products require special care - it is better to wash them in a delicate mode, away from direct sunlight.

Ironing a cashmere coat is strictly not recommended.

Crepe

The combination of wool with nylon, nitron or viscose creates an excellent coat material - crepe. Coats made of this material have sufficient insulating properties, but do not sit down like pure wool specimens. In addition, this fabric is quite elastic and practically does not wrinkle.

Tweed

Tweed coats gained particular popularity back in Soviet times, and there were reasons for that. The fact is that tweed is nothing more than a combination of viscose, acrylic and wool. This combination makes the product unusually warm and dense. The main advantage of tweed is the originality of the texture. Often it is this material that is decorated with various patterns, making the coat model truly stylish.

Drapovoe

Another advantageous combination of wool with synthetic fibers, which allows an excellent coat fabric - drape. Products made from this material are distinguished by their density, thickness and heaviness, but the main distinguishing feature of the drape is its excellent thermal protection. Often such material has a two-layer surface. Velor finish makes the surface of the material soft and velvety.

Which models are the warmest

Few people think that the warming properties of a coat depend not only on the material. An important role is played by the style of a particular model. In winter, experts strongly recommend choosing a loose-fitting coat.Firstly, it will allow you to put on a few more warm clothes under the bottom, and secondly, tight-fitting models themselves are colder than loose counterparts.

The length of the coat is also important for warmth. The best option for winter will be elongated coat models, which are necessarily complemented by a hood. A fur collar, cuffs and other trim elements will also have a beneficial effect on the warming abilities of the garment.

Fashion trends

The fashion trends of the upcoming winter will allow stylish ladies to experiment with their own image as much as possible. Double-breasted and single-breasted models are relevant always and everywhere, so you should not give up the classics. Jacket-type coats are present in the new Dorothee Schumacher collection, so you should also take a closer look at them. Models with suede trim, returning from the 70s, reasserted themselves at the shows of Miu Miu and Ralph Lauren. The mega-popular oversize touched not only warm sweaters, but also coats, as evidenced by models from the collections of Lanvin and Marcel Ostertag.

I would like to talk separately about the fashionable colors this season. Winter fashion collections are full of mostly cold shades - green, purple, turquoise. But Christian Dior, Chanel and Just Cavalli also pleased with warm ones - hot pink and red.

What to wear

Designers advise wearing a winter coat with classic winter things - high boots, woolen skirts and jeans, and complement the image with knitted or knitted hats. Best of all, leather bags are combined with a coat of any style and texture.
