Tourism is associated in modern people with flights to resorts, with train trips and with stops at hotels, or with travel to hard-to-reach uninhabited places. However, there is a middle option - the so-called camping. You need to know what it is.

What it is?

If we turn to dictionaries, then the main sources interpret it as a camp where people live in the open. In English-language literature, campsites can also be called field camps set up by ordinary travelers or climbers during standard hikes of any category. But in the domestic sense, it is customary to attribute camping to a variety of autotourism.

The bottom line is that people come to rest by car and find a prepared area for leisure at the intended place. All the minimum necessary infrastructure is already there. For obvious reasons, official campsites are located in places with good transport accessibility, where there are beautiful views, but there is no strong city noise.

Of course, you will have to pay to visit such sites. For those who want to save as much as possible, spontaneous campsites are suitable.

Varieties

Active

In the active camping mode, the main goal is the movement itself.In this format, people can move not only on land, but also on water. Travelers go kayaking or riding bicycles. Stops are made only for cooking and in other necessary cases. The route is planned so that stops fall exactly at the places of equipped sites.

On foot

This type of camping is difficult to separate from conventional tourism as it was understood a few decades ago. Both adults and children, sometimes of a relatively young age, go on hiking trips. It's pretty budget type of leisure, when compared with traveling by boat or by car. Hiking trips can be organized both in the plains and in the mountains.

In the second case, climbing to the peaks is not practiced, which makes it possible to clearly distinguish such camping from mountaineering.

Hiking categories are determined by the distance traveled and the length of stay on the road. However, the severity of the conditions plays an equally important role:

  • relief complexity;
  • high and low temperatures;
  • the need to use special equipment (in the mountains, caves);
  • the necessary expenditure of energy and the amount of knowledge and skills that tourists must have in order to successfully and safely complete the route.

Social

Leisure activities in tent camps fall into this category. They always come by prior arrangement. Social camping is carried out by immediate relatives, friends or members of tourist clubs. The leisure program is thought out very carefully and agreed with each of the participants. Social camping has been around for a very long time - in the past it was called tourist flight.

Survival

This is the most complex and difficult type.Even with extreme tourism, people usually balance on the edge of danger, but do not cross it. Survival campers train:

  • endure extreme weather conditions;
  • navigate rough terrain;
  • independently obtain food and water;
  • overcome complex landforms.

Set of minimum requirements

Since the summer of 2018, the state standard for camping services has been in force in Russia. You need to be guided by it, choosing options for leisure or organizing a camping site on your own. Capital buildings can be used for administrative and economic needs. Stationary hotels cannot be called campsites and their rooms cannot be used for this format of recreation.

In the most minimal version, there should be provided: a territory for setting up tents, areas for stopping a car and other household needs.

Camping sites are always chosen in strict accordance with master plans and planning projects. Only owners of forest fund lands can not follow them. It is allowed to place camping sites on heavily protected objects of cultural and natural heritage. At the same time, the protection mode meets the general requirements. Anyway official campsites must be located strictly on the area specified in the documents.

The area must be fenced off. The number of places is determined by the allotted territory, the class of the object. Administrative points are certainly organized, the necessary information is brought to all visitors. The number of sanitary facilities is determined by the number of available places. The number and technical parameters of camping engineering networks also depend on it.

The standard provides for the creation of comfortable access roads. They must be provided with proper road signs, lighting and signs. At the entrance to the tourist camp, a checkpoint is created with structures that interfere with the uncontrolled passage of vehicles. Gates must be at least 4 m high to allow motorhomes, fire trucks and other tall vehicles to pass through unhindered. A good campsite also has:

  • asphalt or other hard road surfaces;
  • dead ends with reversal loops;
  • lighting masts;
  • internal indexes for orientation;
  • external guest parking with spaces from 3 m wide and 5.5 m long.

What do you need to take with you?

But there are not only formal rules for organizing campsites. Travelers themselves should clearly understand what things they should take with them. In the first place naturally turns out to be a tent. The best "temporary houses" are made of two-layer or three-layer fabric.

Important: in the absence of hiking experience, it is better to practice in advance in assembling the tent before the trip.

But the camping equipment and gear doesn't end there. A very important accessory in the cold season is a sleeping bag. And even in summer it is much more pleasant than just in a tent. And in order not to get cold during the day, you need to stock up on warm clothes. A rug familiar to tourists under the name "foams" can bring benefits.

However, even with the most careful preparation, travelers may face unpleasant consequences: injuries, poisoning. Therefore, you will have to prepare a personal first-aid kit, which will include:

  • painkillers;
  • disinfectants;
  • antibiotics;
  • dressing;
  • allergy medications;
  • remedies for digestive disorders;
  • medicines needed by someone personally.

In some cases, a very important role is played by sunscreen. They are a must-have when camping in the summer. But you also need to remember about food and kitchen utensils. Cookies, biscuits, canned food, cereals, coffee, tea, chocolate are suitable from the products. In addition to these items, it is worth stocking up:

  • bowls and mugs;
  • gas burners;
  • liquid soap and shampoo;
  • deodorants;
  • creams;
  • raincoats;
  • guidebooks;
  • electric lights;
  • washing powders;
  • notebooks;
  • cameras or video cameras;
  • navigators;
  • spare batteries or accumulators for the necessary electronics.

Rules of behavior

The administration of each field tourist camp approves the rules for visitors at its discretion. But the basic requirements for customers are quite obvious. All arrivals and departures are registered and fill out certain documents. It is only possible to drive around the campsite at the minimum speed in accordance with the road signs.

A certain minimum distance is maintained between individual tents and motorhomes.

It is universally prohibited:

  • transportation of firearms and cold steel, explosives and toxic, foul-smelling substances, ammunition;
  • lighting fires outside designated areas;
  • digging ditches and holes, launching fireworks and using other pyrotechnics without the permission of the administration;
  • listening to the radio, watching TV, watching videos, playing musical instruments that interfere or inconvenience other people;
  • sports games outside designated areas;
  • walking dogs and other animals (except for special areas);
  • keeping dogs without muzzles and leashes, keeping unvaccinated animals;
  • unauthorized trading and other commercial or advertising activities without the consent of the administrators;
  • leaving garbage anywhere except in special containers;
  • swimming outside the designated areas;
  • violation of fire safety standards and rules of behavior on the water;
  • leaving the car outside the parking lots;
  • smoking and drug use while in the camp;
  • unauthorized rearrangement of furniture and small architectural forms.

Tips

It is not so important in the end where you plan to relax. In any case, you will have to take into account all the nuances of this type of holiday. Camping leisure has a very important rule - it is primarily focused on privacy. Experienced travelers simply enjoy the peace and tranquility, pacifying natural beauties. The following rule, somewhat related to this, is fundamental rejection of electronics.

The most "important" calls and letters, messages and amazing news, games and YouTube trends pale in comparison to wild landscapes. It's time to take a break from business and electronic entertainment of any kind equally! But change of underwear, especially socks, and spare shoes will not hurt. Clothes and shoes get wet in the forests, on the banks of rivers it is very easy, but it is more difficult to dry them.

Important: food should be protected from wild animals. It's not just that stocks are a pity. Animals that have learned to eat near housing are no longer afraid of people and may begin to behave more aggressively than usual. Having settled in a spontaneous wild camping (and in an organized one too), it is imperative to protect nature:

  • do not cut more wood than necessary;
  • do not burn large fires;
  • not to tear unnecessarily field, meadow and forest flowers, berries;
  • do not destroy bird nests and animal burrows;
  • bury food waste;
  • Take your plastic waste with you.

Be sure to bring a tarpaulin and rope with you. These things are useful for protection from the sun, from the rain, and also as clothing. Therefore, it is worth taking more tarpaulin and ropes. You can't skimp on water. On average, for 3 days, one traveler needs about 4 liters just for drinking. This is without taking into account hygiene needs, washing cars, cooking ordinary meals. There are several ways:

  • carry more water with you;
  • have a purifier;
  • stop near towns.

No matter how beautiful nature is, its monotony can be very tiring. On foot, this is especially difficult to bear. You need to think in advance what and how to occupy yourself, especially in long forced parking. You also need to choose the right places for tents. In a good place there will be no ants, no water.

We must not forget about the protection against insects. Be sure to use fumigators or mosquito repellents when camping. For more protection, wear tight clothing. It will also reduce the risk of being bitten by infected ticks.

In order not to suffer from inconvenience, you need to choose the right tent. Good "field house":

  • easy to install;
  • folds without problems
  • takes up little space;
  • accommodates exactly as many people as necessary;
  • corresponds to the climatic features of the area.

Do not think that only a specially equipped motorhome is suitable for camping. Any car that can carry the necessary things will come in handy for this purpose. As for the departure time, experienced travelers are advised to travel on weekdays. Then the tent camps are practically empty and even near settlements are much more secluded.

But if not a parking lot is planned, but a hiking trip, you need to choose a backpack as carefully as possible - otherwise the first impression will be hopelessly spoiled.

A very important tip for any traveler is to take an ax with you. It will allow you to do a variety of work with minimal effort. You also need to think about the practicality of clothes and shoes. They should be durable and non-marking, as comfortable as possible in everyday use. Boots with good soles, and in spring and autumn, even boots will be an ideal choice.
