For a long time Poland was influenced by different cultures. It left its mark. in particular. and on the national clothes of this people. Lithuanian, Romanian, Russian, Austrian and other motifs skillfully and harmoniously combined in the national Polish costumemaking it inimitable and unique.

Considering the national Polish costume, one should take into account the fact that different regions of this state have their own traditional local clothes. There is no single uniform in Poland.

A bit of history

The Polish national costume has come a long way until it has found common features in all regions of the state.

Initially all clothes in Poland were divided into 3 large groups depending on the social status of a person: urban, gentry and peasant. The first two groups were often subjected to changes, while peasant clothing rarely changed and very slowly. The most widespread was the gentry costume, which absorbed many features from the peasant clothing group and became popular among the people.

The division of Polish clothing into groups was associated with the quality of the material that was used for tailoring products. Clothes for peasants and townspeople were sewn mainly from linen.In the national clothes of the Polish gentry, expensive natural woolen fabric prevailed.

Peculiarities

One of the features of the Polish national costume is the fabric from which the product is made. More simple clothing options are sewn from available materials: linen or sheep's wool. The second group of national Polish costumes is made using expensive striped woolen fabric.

The set of the Polish national costume, regardless of the region in which it is distributed, includes (including gender):

  • skirt;
  • shirt;
  • apron;
  • vest (corset);
  • belt;
  • pants;
  • headdress;
  • special shoes ("kerpchi");
  • jewelry and additional accessories.

Very often, national Polish costumes are decorated with hand or factory embroidery.

Colors and shades

The color scheme of the Polish national costume is extremely bright and varied. It is distinguished by complexity and interesting design solutions. Juicy and rich shades of decoration attract attention, immediately highlighting a person from the general crowd.

Mostly in the Polish costume, red, brown, blue, green colors and their various shades are used. Often there are rainbow models, clothes with floral motifs, various decorative prints and inserts.

Fabrics and fit

Today, the range of fabrics from which the elements of the national Polish costume are made is very wide and varied. This enables designers and fashion designers to successfully use this when developing models and styles of individual elements of this clothing. However, the main direction and essence of the costume is clearly observed.

The cut of the Polish costume can be very diverse: from wide skirts or trousers and shirts to narrow and adjacent variants. Therefore, it is possible to choose national clothes in Poland for every taste and preference.

Varieties

Many varieties of Polish national decoration are known. It all depends, as already mentioned, depends on a particular region of the state.

All Polish national clothes are divided into 3 main groupss:

  • female;
  • male;
  • children's.

Women's clothing is characterized by a large number of elements and their bright colors.

The male elements of the costume are mostly more restrained. They are dominated by pastel and traditional colors: black, brown, gray, white, etc.

Polish children's national clothes are made in compliance with the same rules and principles as for sewing clothes for adults.

Accessories and shoes

Shoes for the national Polish costume are selected appropriate. It can be boots with a high or medium top, heel. Often they are equipped with lacing, on the heels there are metal horseshoes.

Particular attention is paid to the headdress. Young girls and women put on bright, original scarves, flower wreaths, married ladies wear caps.

Jewelry is also an integral part of the national costume. in Poland. Most often they are red and are massive beads, bracelets, earrings.

Modern models

Modern fashion designers have the opportunity to fantasize and create more and more new models and styles of elements for the Polish costume, while respecting the main idea and concept of the costume.

Despite the past years, some of which were very difficult for the country, the Poles retained its main idea and concept, only unobtrusively supplementing and enriching it.
