Russian bath, Finnish dry steam room or soft Turkish hammam: any bath for a woman is not only a cleansing procedure, but also a great reason to take care of herself. When the skin is steamed, the effectiveness of any means is enhanced. Therefore, we choose scrubs and face masks for the bath very carefully.

General rules of care

Any type of bath procedures has a tonic and healing effect on the body. Even without any masks after the bath, the skin looks rested and fresh. And if you choose the right care, then you can completely replace the bath with at least one trip to the beautician.

General rules for care when steaming:

  • Before applying any cosmetics, the skin must be thoroughly cleansed.
  • Masks are not made while in the steam room.
  • Usually masks are made in between visits to the steam room. After her first visit, when the face has steamed out and the pores have opened, you need to make an exfoliating mask (use scrub, gommage, peeling). After leaving the sauna, be sure to plunge into the pool or take a cool shower - you need to wash off dirt, dust and sweat. Then apply the particulate mask on your face, relax and let it work for 5-10 minutes. After that, you can easily massage your face and rinse thoroughly. Now the skin is truly cleansed, you can moisturize or nourish it.

If you plan to stay in the bath for a long enough time, leave the main (moisturizing / nourishing) mask for the last time. Best of all, after applying and removing the product from the face, do not steam it anymore. If your time in the sauna is only a couple of hours, you can do the procedures one after the other.

  • The mask should be applied, like a scrub, after you have taken a shower after leaving the steam room. The face is blotted with a soft terry towel and the mask is applied in a thick layer, excluding the area under the gases and around the lips. Eyelids can be covered with cotton pads dipped in herbal infusion or tea, cucumber circles, and lips can be smeared with honey. With all this “goodness” on your face, you need to relax, preferably lie down and be silent. After 15 minutes, you can wash off the cosmetics, give yourself a light facial massage and use the tonic and cream according to the usual scheme.

You can take any suitable cosmetics with you to the bath. You can use your favorite ready-made preparations, or you can prepare special masks from fresh products. There is an opinion that homemade cosmetics are more effective than purchased ones, and a bath is a great reason to check it out.

Subtleties of choice

In the bath, the mask will “work” more intensively than at home, so it is important not to overdo it with active ingredients. It is best to choose a proven remedy that will definitely not cause allergies.

For the initial stage of care - exfoliation - it is better to take a soft product without large and hard particles to the sauna. It can be a very light scrub, cream-gel with cleansing granules or peeling. Many brands produce a product called "steaming mask" - its components, applied to wet skin of the face, begin to "warm up" the skin. As a result, the pores are opened and cleansed. In the bath, this effect will be achieved by itself, so it is better to leave such cosmetics for home use.

From "home" peelings to the bath, it is best to take a mixture of honey and finely ground coffee, pre-brewed for softness.

  • To combat dryness, you need to use a nourishing mask. It can be made on the basis of honey, eggs, sour cream. You can also add vegetable oils, such as shea butter, macadamia, apricot kernels.
  • Moisturizing mask for normal skin. You can make it on the basis of kefir, cottage cheese, flour and fruit juices. Grated apple, cucumber are perfect. Base oils, such as almond, avocado, peach, will also be useful.
  • Oily skin also needs to be moisturized, but in its own way. Suitable products that do not leave a greasy sheen and narrow pores. For example, yogurt, low-fat kefir.

How to DIY

Several options for an exfoliating mask that will deeply cleanse the pores.

  • Based on coffee:
  1. Finely ground coffee (the variety is unimportant) brew in a coffee maker or Turk.
  2. Dry the rest of the thick on a plate.
  3. Mix a teaspoon of thick with a tablespoon of liquid honey.

Instead of honey, you can take universal almond or peach oil. It suits absolutely everyone.

  • Salt based:
  1. You will need finely ground sea salt. Ideally, if you manage to grind it almost to dust with a spice mortar or coffee grinder.
  2. A teaspoon of salt is mixed with a tablespoon of honey.
  3. A teaspoon of jojoba oil is added to the same mixture.
  • Universal scrub can be made from honey and sugar by mixing the ingredients in a 1:1 ratio. Instead of honey, you can use any base oil like olive, almond, or jojoba.
  • For dry skin a sugar scrub with softened butter (1: 2), sour cream or egg yolk is perfect.

Face masks can be multi-component, or they can contain only one ingredient. Let's start with the simplest options.

  • Avocado Moisturizing Mask is suitable for all skin types. To do this, choose a medium-sized fresh fruit. It will need to be cleaned and the bone removed. The pulp must be mashed with a fork until mashed. You can also do this with a blender. Apply the mass on a cleansed face for 15 minutes.
  • A honey mask is made from slightly warmed liquid honey. It is applied to the face in a thin layer until dry. This is a good option for dry skin, or problematic, with a lot of pimples.
  • Cucumber is also a great moisturizer. Grate the pulp of a fresh cucumber on a fine grater, add a teaspoon of any healthy vegetable oil - and you're done. This composition moisturizes, whitens the face.

More complex masks are best prepared immediately before use.

  • A good universal remedy for moisturizing the skin is aloe juice. Based on it, you can make several different masks. To get this ingredient, you need to take a couple of the lower thick leaves and pass them through a meat grinder. Squeeze the resulting porridge through cheesecloth. Everything that flows out is valuable juice. You can simply cut the leaf lengthwise and squeeze it in your hand, but this way there will be much less juice.
  • The best mask with aloe, which is perfect for a bath, is a fabric mask. It is necessary to cut out a mask from 3-4 layers of gauze with slits for the eyes and lips, soak it with freshly squeezed plant juice and apply on the face. Such a mask will moisturize normal and dry skin, and in oily skin it will narrow the pores and remove excess sebum. And even for aging and fading skin, such a procedure will be useful - it will saturate the epidermis with vitamins and help smooth out fine wrinkles.

The only limitation is people who have a lot of facial hair. Aloe can stimulate their growth, which in this case is undesirable.

If you want a more intense and complex action, aloe juice can be mixed with other ingredients.

  • For normal skin in equal proportions with cream or honey. For dry skin a mixture of juice with sour cream, egg and fine oatmeal is suitable.
  • Owners of oily skin can dilute aloe juice in equal proportions with lemon fresh - it will be most convenient to soak a fabric mask with this liquid mass.
  • For oily skin, a mixture of kefir with fruits is well suited. You can take a banana, kiwi, lemon, grated apple. The acids contained in such a mask will help make the face matte and velvety.

Folk recipes for skin care in the bath on masks do not end there. You can take a shower by combining it with a water facial massage: it is very simple and does not require special skills.

To enhance the effect, you can wipe the skin with herbal infusion after the mask. It can be chamomile, mint or other plants that you like.

One of the most important healing effects of the bath is removal of excess fluid, removal of edema. This is very important for the skin. For best results, avoid packaged juices, soda, or alcoholic drinks in the sauna. You need to drink pure water or herbal tea.

Finished cosmetics

If you don’t want the hassle of making masks at home, you can choose any ready-made skin care product that matches your skin type and financial capabilities.

Scrub-mask “Clean line. Phytobath"

Very inexpensive cleanser. The manufacturer claims that essential oils under the influence of warm water create a steaming effect, and the cranberry seed cleanses the pores. With such an effect, this drug has nothing to do with the bath: the whole point is to steam the skin while at home, in the bathroom. However, this does not prevent you from using a scrub as a preparation for the main mask in the sauna.

Reviews about this tool are mostly positive. Those who have long been familiar with the Clean Line brand remember the classic scrub with apricot pits, which is notorious for its rudeness. This tool is much gentler and more delicate.

It has a pleasant smell, creates a steaming effect and opens the pores. The composition is far from ideal, but for its price the product is quite “working”.

"Russian bath" from Avon

Another affordable tool. The manufacturer recommends using it in the bath, on steamed skin. The active ingredients in the composition are extracts of Siberian pine and eucalyptus.

According to reviews, the mask resembles clay - and works the same way, drying in the air. For dry skin, this remedy is likely to tighten. But the owners of normal and oily skin can take a closer look at it.

It cleanses the face, makes it rested and fresh.

"Bath. Massage. Sauna" from Bielita-Vitex

Inexpensive product that is suitable for the whole body. The composition (except for a bunch of different "chemistry") cosmetic clay, a lot of essential oils, honey, as well as sea salt and therapeutic mud.

Despite the presence of clay in the composition, the mask does not dry on the face. After application, according to reviews, there is a feeling of freshness and cleanliness.

"Aevit" from LibreDerm

The mask is not from the category of "bath", but with a good vitamin composition. Vitamins A and E remove toxins from the skin and stimulate collagen synthesis. The mask eliminates dryness and peeling. Also in the composition - rosehip oil and elecampane extract, which tone, brighten the skin and saturate with microelements.

According to reviews, the drug has a good rating. This mask does not require rinsing: with well-opened pores in the bath, this is what you need. After the main part has been absorbed, you just need to remove the excess with tonic.

It is nourishing and suitable for dry and normal skin. After application, according to reviews, the face becomes more toned, has a pleasant color and looks well-groomed.

Thermal mask "Skin tone and energy" from Natura Siberica

Means from the Kamchatka series (components mined on the peninsula are used). According to the manufacturer, it is suitable even for irritated skin. The active ingredients are thermal mud and bamboo charcoal. Recommended for oily skin or girls with a problem T-zone.

Vichy

Mineral pore-clearing clay mask is recommended for skin with blackheads. It is based on two types of clay, as well as aloe juice and allantoin, which do not allow the skin to dry out under the astringent effect of kaolin.Vichy thermal water, which is part of the composition, saturates the epidermis with microelements.

According to reviews, it perfectly cleanses, reduces the number of comedones, makes the skin silky and radiant. Well suited for the first, "cleansing" stage of bath care.
