A starch face mask is a natural remedy for wrinkles. Accordingly, in the list of its advantages, the first place is the safety of natural products for facial skin that requires special care, the second is efficiency, and the third is availability. This is not a complete list of benefits and can be supplemented by other items.

Peculiarities

Turning to starch masks, it is important to consider some of the features of the action of this product:

  • Don't expect miracles from him. Potato starch has a rich composition, but not magical properties. It is not able to reverse the structural processes occurring in the epidermis, but it can slow them down, stop aging for a while, smooth out visible age-related changes;
  • The regularity of procedures increases their effectiveness. Useful substances of starch, like many other care products, have a cumulative effect. The first results will be noticeable from 3-4 procedures, a stable result will be formed after a course of 2-3 weeks;
  • The tool copes with fine wrinkles and "crow's feet" and works much worse on skin that has already been affected by deep age-related changes;
  • Age matters. It is worth starting an active struggle with time for the preservation of youth and beauty no earlier than 25-30 years;
  • Suitable for prevention. It is no secret that it is easier to prevent the appearance of wrinkles than to try to eliminate them later. Starch masks allow you to delay the first signs of aging for quite a long time;
  • You can apply the mask on the entire face, but it works most effectively in the area around the eyes, on the forehead, on the nasolabial triangle.

Effect

Starch masks give an incredible result. Due to their high effectiveness, they are often compared to salon procedures and even suggested to be used instead of Botox. But despite the successful fight against wrinkles at home, a folk remedy cannot be called an absolutely identical achievement of cosmetology. It is incorrect to compare them with each other because they affect wrinkles in different ways.

Botox is a drug based on a substance synthesized by bacteria in the process of life. The botulinum toxin they secrete is dangerous because it can cause muscle paralysis or lead to death. But in small doses, it only smoothes out deep and persistent wrinkles, due to which it has gained great popularity in the beauty industry.

Unlike Botox, which is injected under the skin with a needle, homemade masks are not able to penetrate to such a depth into the epidermis and only affect the outer layers. The effect is provided by the impact not on the muscles, but on the skin, there can be no talk of blocking the nerve signals of the muscle muscles.

But the anti-aging and tightening properties of starch-based masks are a reality, not a myth, and with proper use, they can become the very secret of youth that every woman is looking for.

What is useful

The use of starch in cosmetology is a kind of paradox. When eaten in large quantities, it negatively affects the energy needs of the body, but it has an extremely positive effect on female beauty in any doses.

The secret of the miraculous starch mask lies in the composition of the substance:

  • Niacin or nicotinic acid. This substance is one of the most important enzymes in the structure that provide cellular respiration. It practically does not enter the body with food, so the skin begins to "suffocate" and ages earlier. Masks with niacin dilate blood vessels, improving blood circulation, normalize the blood supply to the epidermis and ensure the outflow of excess fluid from the tissue, which helps relieve swelling;
  • Choline or B4. Vitamin B, which in the composition of starch stands apart from its relatives, as it performs the most important function of a “building material” for cell walls and membranes. The lack of vitamin B4 makes the cells fragile and dehydrated, the skin loses its elasticity, becomes covered with wrinkles faster, and the clarity of the face oval is lost.

In addition to choline, starch also contains other vitamins of this group, but in a smaller dosage. For example, B9 or folic acid, which is useful in the formation of new cells, the fight against acne and skin rashes;

  • Ascorbic acid or vitamin C. A multifunctional element in the service of youth and beauty. As part of face masks, vitamin C is useful in that:
  1. Increases skin tone and its resistance to the negative effects of environmental factors;
  2. Regenerates damaged skin cells;
  3. Whitens and evens out skin tone, improves its color;
  4. Promotes the production of collagen, which increases the firmness and elasticity of tissues;
  5. Neutralizes free radicals;
  6. Prevents premature aging;
  7. Works as a catalyst in peels, increasing their effectiveness.
  • Proteins fats carbohydrates. Their content provides nutrition and saturation of the skin with useful microelements;
  • Iron. It is necessary for the skin of the face for normal oxygen exchange of epidermal cells. Iron deficiency leads to a lack of oxygen, and this negatively affects the youth and elasticity of the skin;
  • Potassium. This useful mineral is responsible for the water balance of cell membranes. Its deficiency is one of the main causes of dryness and flaking;

Vitamin E. The properties of this substance in cosmetology are legendary. As part of starch, it is useful for fading and dry skin, it works in several directions at once:

  1. Rejuvenates. Cells are regenerated, tissues are tightened, blood circulation and color are improved, wrinkles are smoothed out, tone is increased, aging is slowed down;
  2. Soothes. Acts as an antidepressant for the skin: a blush appears, the walls of the membranes are strengthened, the tired appearance of the skin is replaced by a fresh and rested one;
  3. Removes toxins and provides cells with protection;
  4. Heals inflammation, acne, rashes, reveals black spots:
  5. Whitens;
  6. Moisturizes;
  7. Heals. It is considered the prevention of cancer, including skin cancer; relieves itching, rash, redness, peeling, allergic reactions.

These properties are possessed by starch extracted from potato tubers.In addition to recipes from potato starch, masks based on corn, bean, grain starch are possible.

Most often, along with potato starch, corn starch is used. Its composition is also rich and useful for maintaining the beauty of the skin. It includes:

  • vitamins of groups B, E and K;
  • minerals and trace elements: Fe, Mg, K, Ca, Cu, which skin and hair need,
  • linoleic acid to restore the lipid structure of the epidermis;
  • tocopherol and ferulic acid - natural antioxidants that slow down cell aging;
  • lecithin and allantoin - effective restorers of elasticity and firmness.

Together, all these elements care for dry skin prone to flaking and redness, energize cells, rejuvenate and renew them, build a protective barrier that improves skin tone and protects it from damage, smoothes wrinkles. Also, corn starch is an effective tool in the composition of masks for oily and problem skin, skin of a mixed type. This absorbent removes greasy shine, cleanses, softens, protects and nourishes.

It can be used in the care of mature and acne-prone skin.

How to make at home

Potato starch, which can be bought at any grocery store for a ridiculous price, is made from ripe tubers. The scheme is simple and clear: the tubers are peeled, washed, thoroughly crushed, squeezed. I would like the procedure for extracting the useful substance to end, but on an industrial scale, sulfur dioxide or sodium sulfide is added to the product so that it does not darken, but remains a marketable white color.

By themselves, sulfur and sodium are quite harmless, and one could turn a blind eye to their presence in the composition of the powder, but then the potato mass is subjected to the following processing steps, in which alkali and a hypochlorous acid salt enter it.

Even after this, the starch remains safe for internal and external use, but the composition of such a product still does not sound attractive.

What if you want to try the effect of a starch mask on yourself, but you don’t want to use a powder enriched with extra elements? Cook it at home! The technology is very simple, the substance will be 100% natural, and as a raw material, you can use both young and strong fruits, and potatoes that have frozen or become flabby and are not suitable for food.

To prepare starch powder at home, you will need to follow these steps in stages:

  • Select and process roots. They should be thoroughly washed from dirt, remove broken places, sprouts, eyes, rot, if any;
  • Grind the peeled and washed potatoes in a convenient way until smooth. A very fine grater, juicer or blender will do;
  • Pour the raw vegetable mass with cool water so that its volume doubles, stir well. Water "pulls" the starch out of the potatoes, so the mixing procedure must be given special attention. The temperature of the liquid is also important - starch will simply dissolve in hot water, turning into a paste;
  • Without allowing the mass to settle, strain it through cheesecloth into an enamel bowl.. Pour a second time, removing the remaining starch;
  • Let the strained liquid stand, gradually draining the water over the lowered starch. Water can be added by washing the starch mass, but be careful not to drain the substance itself;
  • Drain the rest of the water, you can start drying. To do this, put the starch mass on a baking sheet covered with cooking paper, place in the oven until completely dry at a temperature not exceeding 40 degrees;
  • Dried starch must be cooled and rubbed in the palms so that there are no lumps. Pour dry yellow powder into a jar with a tight lid, store away from moisture and direct sunlight.

Masks with homemade starch will be as effective and hypoallergenic as possible.

Recipes

The powdery consistency of starch does not allow it to be used for beauty procedures in its pure form. The bulk substance requires an additional liquid component to be conveniently applied to the skin. As binding ingredients, the same natural products are used, which are selected according to skin type and existing problems.

For aging skin

For skin that is losing elasticity, a starch mask with banana and cream is suitable. For one small fruit, you will need 20-30 grams of dry and liquid matter. Starch and cream should be added to banana puree, gradually applied to the face, renewing the layer every time the previous one dries. You can do from two to five layers. The procedure is carried out for half an hour several times a week.

Such a mask has the effect of accumulative therapy, that is, the first results will be noticeable in a couple of weeks, and a lasting result in a few months.

homemade botox for wrinkles

A natural alternative to a cosmetic procedure, suitable for use in adulthood on any skin type.So, dry skin will become smooth and velvety, the pores of oily skin will become much narrower, a matte effect will appear, normal skin will become even healthier and more radiant in appearance.

For this recipe, you will need 30 grams of potato starch, the same amount of sour cream, carrot juice, half a glass of cold water and 0.5 liters of boiling water.

Starch in the composition actively fights age-related changes, tightening the skin, sour cream moisturizes. Carrot juice enriches with vitamins, makes it smooth, and the complexion is even and beautiful.

Cooking begins with the preparation of starch. 30 g of powder should be poured with cold water, mixed, poured into boiling water. Gently stirring, boil the mixture over low heat until the consistency of a thick cream. After mixing the remaining ingredients into the cooled mixture, you can apply the mask in a thin layer. With pronounced wrinkles - in two layers. Exposure to the skin should last 25-30 minutes, after which the mask should be washed off with cool water.

The leftover product can be used within three days, as it is suitable for daily use and can be stored in the refrigerator for several days.

A mask with glycerin and gelatin gives an effect similar to a salon procedure. It is more complex in composition (cream, starch, gelatin, honey, glycerin) and takes longer to prepare, but the results justify the time spent.

First of all, it is necessary to dissolve the gelatin in the cream and leave it to swell for several hours, then the mixture must be placed in a water bath. Stirring constantly, bring to a homogeneous state and cool. After mixing the remaining ingredients, cover the problem areas with a thin layer of the mixture for 25-30 minutes.

Lifting mask

Age is given out not only by wrinkles, but also by the state of the face oval.Over time, its contours become less clear, as if "floating". It is possible to correct this imperfection with an expensive and unsafe salon procedure, or you can use home remedies - natural cosmetics and massage.

Starch masks with egg white will help to tighten the skin and restore its former appearance. Proteins of chicken and quail eggs give equally good results, so you can alternate these two products in the application of masks.

Starch rejuvenation

Suitable for all skin types, regenerates, fills cells with energy, saturates with moisture.

Sensitive skin shows milk and starch masks with the addition of essential oils, such as peach or avocado. For 20 g of powder and 20 ml of milk, you will need a few drops of oil. Mixtures with Aevit work great.

The composition must be well mixed, massage movements apply to problem areas, rinse after half an hour.

Oily skin can be pampered with a mask with one egg white and lemon, it will give the skin a matte and healthy look.

Starch must first be diluted with a small amount of warm water to get a glue-like paste, into which protein and citrus juice are alternately driven in, 5 drops per 20 g of powder. Protein will mix better with starch if it is well beaten with a fork before combining the ingredients, and the powder itself can be replaced with corn starch. Its composition has an excellent absorbent effect on oily skin.

For combination skin, there is a recipe from starch, sea or iodized salt, full fat milk. Milk must be heated and diluted with pre-mixed dry ingredients. Like the previous two masks, the time of exposure to the skin is 30 minutes.

Any of these procedures can be carried out within a month with an interval of one day.

For problem skin

Starch is a good remedy in the treatment of an actual cosmetic problem - acne.

If the skin is dry and prone to the manifestation of imperfections, a treatment mask will help, which includes: egg white, 20 grams of starch, 5 drops of tea tree essential oil.

Oily skin will be helped out by a mixture of kefir, starch and protein.

Skin with signs of aging will be taken care of by natural honey with the addition of heavy cream, potato starch and cocoa powder.

Washing with a water-starch solution in the proportions of 1 teaspoon per liter of boiled water will help to enhance the effect of masks in cases with problem skin.

For normal skin

The absence of visible problems is not a reason to deprive the skin of the face of care procedures.

Epidemis in a normal state also needs to be moisturized, nourished, and protected. In addition, timely care for still young and elastic skin is an investment in beauty in the future.

To energize normal-type skin, moisturize and nourish with useful elements, masks of a simple composition made from natural ingredients will help: starch with milk, honey, vegetable juice, and the addition of base oils.

Smoothing

Homemade cosmetics often contain amazing ingredients. For example, ordinary tomatoes combined with starch can restore smoothness to the skin of the face. In a vegetable mixture of a teaspoon of starch and the pulp of half a small tomato, you need to add an egg yolk and 0.5 tablespoons of olive oil. The mixture is applied to the entire face, avoiding the area around the eyes, for 15-20 minutes.

The procedure should be completed by washing, apply a nourishing cream to the still damp skin.

Whitening paste

Unfortunately, wrinkles do not exclude other skin troubles. For those who have signs of age, not only in the loss of elasticity of the epidermis, but also in the form of age spots, starch provides a double service. In the fight against skin pigmentation, a mild whitening paste made from starch and lemon juice is effective.

Allergy sufferers can replace citrus juice with a 5% hydrogen peroxide solution.

Gommage

Fine powder particles provide gentle cleansing of the skin and pores. Such a tool does not roughly polish the skin, but gently rolls up dead skin particles, making it smoother, softer and well-groomed. The absence of aggressive components in the homemade gommage allows you to use it more than three times a week.

To prepare, you need to mix a tablespoon of starch with a teaspoon of sea salt of the finest grinding, dilute the dry ingredients with warmed fat milk to a mushy state, pour in a spoonful of natural honey. Apply a warm mixture to the skin in circular massage movements, you can leave it as a mask for 15 minutes.

Salt can be replaced with another abrasive substance, such as soda, and milk with mineral water.
