There are situations when paint gets on clothes. Many do not know how to wipe it off and what methods of stain removal exist. Store-bought products and folk methods will help you remove such pollution. The choice of the appropriate option is up to you.

Peculiarities

In our everyday life there are a lot of different kinds of dyes. For example, such as water-based dyes, enamel or oil, as well as gouache and watercolor. Sometimes they get on our clothes and then it is necessary to get rid of them somehow.

Gouache and watercolor are the easiest to wash off clothes. They are also easy to remove from other surfaces. Water-based paint does not have any detrimental effect on human health. However, stains on clothes caused by paint getting on it, not without reason, are classified as difficult to remove.

Soft tissues are especially difficult to clean. Acrylic or watercolor paint must be removed immediately and not wait until they penetrate deeply into the structure of the fabric.

There are times when utilities do not leave any identification marks on a painted bench or, for example, on a railing.And then people accidentally stain their clothes with paint and are at a loss about what to do to save their favorite thing.

First of all, you need to know that the cleaning method largely depends on what surface or fabric we are cleaning and what kind of paint we have stained it with. So, let's get acquainted in detail with the methods of washing paint from various kinds of surfaces.

Cleaning methods

First you need to say that you should not panic if you suddenly stained your property with paint during any construction work. There are many ways to clean all kinds of surfaces from this kind of pollution. Depending on the kind of soiled surface, as already mentioned, we will use one or another method of cleaning.

Wipe off different surfaces

For cleaning hard surfaces that are not afraid of scratches or those that you do not mind scratching, methods such as:

  • cleaning with an iron brush;
  • cleaning with various solvents and special products;
  • cleaning with a grinder;
  • washing with soapy water or ordinary water, in the event that the paint has not had time to dry. In this way, you can clean the paint, for example, from plastic or from tiles.

Consider each cleaning method separately:

  • iron brush. With this method of cleaning, it is necessary to wet the surface to be cleaned and leave it wet for 10-15 minutes. Then start scrubbing the paint, for example, from a laminate, with an iron brush. It is important to take into account the fact that wiping dirt from the floor should be done in the same direction. If the paint has ceased to rub off from certain areas of the surface, you need to moisten these areas with even more water and continue brushing.In this way, the facade paint can be easily removed.
  • Solvents and special products. Thick layers of paint will help clean solutions that contain a high percentage of solvents. Suitable for this:
    • formic acid;
    • isopropyl alcohol;
    • dimethyl chloride.
  • There are other substances, but they are usually unhealthy, so when purchasing them, carefully read the composition, especially if you have children in your home. The substances listed by us are harmless to the environment and decompose rather quickly. Among the special tools at the moment, the most popular are such as "Estate" Russian production and Set Boya Sokucu Turkish production. Instructions for their use are included with them in the package. They can perfectly clean both the stretch ceiling and the bath.
  • Sander. You can use a grinder, or you can use a drill with a grinding attachment, this is not so important. It is important that before cleaning the surface of the tree, it is desirable to heat it with a building hair dryer, after which the swollen layer of paint should be removed with a spatula. The rest of the paint must be washed off by sanding. After the end of this procedure, you should carry out a wet cleaning and wipe the remaining stains with an iron brush.
  • Water and soap solution. As already mentioned, this method is only suitable for those cases where the paint is not very dry to the surface or not dried at all. The process of washing with water does not need a detailed description, but cleaning with a soapy solution is as follows: soap or washing powder is abundantly dissolved in water, after which the solution is applied for 10-15 minutes on the surface to be cleaned, then the surface is rubbed with a sponge.

After the cleaning process, dry the surface to be cleaned and make sure that there are no soap stains left. Otherwise, repeat the process again. This cleaning method is suitable for both glass and wallpaper.

Cleaning delicate surfaces

For delicate surfaces, such as linoleum or parquet, do not use the above methods. The use of these methods can damage them or make them look ugly. Therefore, these surfaces should be cleaned with soft materials. Not iron brushes and grinders, but soft sponges, rags or shoe brushes.

The procedure for cleaning delicate surfaces is similar to the procedure for cleaning paint that has not had time to dry. That is, a soapy solution or ordinary water is taken, applied to our delicate surface and left to sour for 20-30 minutes. Then the paint is removed. In this case, the use of solvents and special products should also be abandoned, because they can corrode the delicate surface, damage it and lead to a not very aesthetic appearance.

How to wash fabric?

The fabric, in turn, like any surface, is divided into types. And, depending on the type of fabric that needs to be cleaned and the type of paint that the fabric has been stained with, different methods of dealing with contamination are applied.

You are more likely to stain your clothes with gouache or watercolor than with any mortar. Therefore, for starters, let's figure out how to clean clothes from gouache or watercolor.

Fresh stains left by watercolor can be easily washed off with cold water. Dried stains require soaking for about fifteen minutes. The situation is a little more complicated with gouache, because gouache is based on a semi-glue-semi-oil base, but do not be upset. Gouache cleaning products can be easily found in any home.

For cleaning, you need to prepare a mixture by mixing oxalic acid with ammonia. Instead of acid, alcohol or glycerin can be used. Since gouache paints for drawing are created on an oil basis, the removal of the contaminants left by it is similar to the removal of fatty contaminants. For this, a regular wash with stain removers such as Bos or Vanish.

Perhaps the most difficult to remove in the case of fabric are stains from enamel or oil paints. But, having stained your clothes with one of these colors, do not rush to fall into despair, you can still fix it. To get started, try the cleaning method with some solvents, for example, marked with conditional numbers six hundred and forty-six and six hundred and forty-seven.

But remember that some solvents can damage clothes, so test them before you use them. Depending on the severity of your contamination, you can try using acetone or gasoline. Only not the gasoline that is used to refuel cars, but household gasoline, which is sold in stores.

Here are some more steps you can take to clean the fabric:

  • Means used to wash dishes will only work if the pollution has arisen quite recently. You should rub the dirty place with a sponge, and then rinse the stains in water. The method is perfect for carpet and leatherette.
  • Recent stains can be treated with a scouring powder mixed with vegetable oil in a one to one ratio.Mix these substances in the indicated proportion, rub the contaminated area with the resulting solution and then wash off everything that remains.
  • Cashmere, synthetic or leather items should be cleaned with vegetable oil alone. Vegetable oil is applied to a cotton pad, then the necessary area is wiped with this disk until the pollution disappears. After erasing the paint, you need to get rid of the divorce left by the oil. This is done by sprinkling the stain with salt and then rinsing it off.
  • A tool such as "White spirit" is suitable for dealing with many types of stains left by paint, but it is best to remove stains from enamel paint. To do this, the site of contamination is wiped with a swab moistened with a substance.
  • They rely on gasoline in the most critical situations. Contamination is covered with gasoline for a certain period of time, then rubbed off. However, this method is guaranteed to damage the fabric and leave marks.
  • Solvent. Any solvents are well suited for cleaning clothes, because they always contain acetone, which flawlessly fights traces of any dyes. The method of using the solvent is simple: drop a little liquid on the place of contamination, wait about ten minutes, and then wash off the dirt. But do not forget that solvents can stain colored fabrics, so test them on unnecessary fabric before use. Remember that such a substance can simply corrode silk fibers.
  • Alcohol. Today, there is a growing trend in the use of latex and water-based paints in construction.If you get dirty with these types of paints, do not despair, just cover the places of contamination with alcohol, rub with a rag, which will also first need to be slightly moistened with alcohol, and after that the stains should be washed off.
  • A solution of vinegar and ammonia. This method is perfect for firm types of fabric from which jeans are made. The method is quite simple. Ammonia, vinegar and salt (in the amount of two tablespoons of each ingredient) are mixed, and the product is applied to the area stained with paint. After the composition has been absorbed, the dirt can be removed with a brush.

Heavy fabrics are less prone to etching and other types of damage, so more cleaning methods are applicable to them than to soft fabrics. A fabric stained with watercolors or gouache can be easily cleaned during an ordinary wash. Dense material is less afraid of acetone corrosion, so it can be used when contaminated with other types of paints.

There is also less chance that a household gasoline stain will remain, so gasoline can also be used when trying to scrub off this or that stain left by the paint.

With things made of delicate fabrics, things are a little more complicated. Before using the folk cleaning methods described in this article on such clothes, be aware of how valuable this item is to you. If it is extremely dear to you, it is better not to take risks and give it to dry cleaning, and if not, then you can try to clean the dirt yourself.

Fresh dirt can be removed by wiping with laundry soap. Later ones can be tried to be removed by wiping with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol. Just need to wipe from the edge and moving towards the center to avoid streaks and smearing of paint. Alcohol and salt can help wash nylon or nylon fabric. First, the fabric is wiped with alcohol, then the stains are washed off with saline.

Hair dye removal. Stains left by hair dye are removed by ordinary washing. However, if the stain has had time to dry, it can be removed with styling varnish. White shirts can be cleaned by washing in a hydrogen peroxide solution, while synthetic and woolen fabrics are excellently washed with a mixture of ammonia and vinegar.

Tips & Tricks

In order to save their strength, time and stock of nerve cells, which, we recall, do not have the ability to recover, it is better to resort to the help of professionals or listen to their advice, which are described below:

  • Apply water or soap solutions to the painted areas that you are going to clean at a given time, and not to the entire area that needs cleaning. Because while you clean a specific area, the entire fabric will have time to dry three times. This will lead to unnecessary expenditure of material and time resources.
  • Paint that has fallen on furniture, carpets and other surfaces should be wiped off immediately while it is damp. This makes it easier, faster and much more efficient. Delaying the time until the paint is completely dry, you risk ruining your property.
  • As for clothing, it can be advised to take care of your things. Do not do construction work in expensive things or clothes that you value. Carefully inspect the benches before you sit down and the railing before you touch them. If they suddenly began to look unnaturally bright, perhaps this indicates their recent painting.
  • Well, if for one reason or another, you still got your thing dirty, weigh its significance for you. If you are not sorry to ruin it, use the above tips, use solvents, ammonia, acetone, gasoline and other means at your own peril and risk.

If you do not intend to spoil your item, it is better to spend a little money and take it to a dry cleaner. There you will wash it much better and return it safe and sound.
