Soon, popular students no longer had to sew letters on their sweaters on their own - there were Letterman jackets with ready-made patches. They could not be purchased in stores, they were given out to straight A students, activists, captains of successful sports teams or their main cheerleaders.

It is curious that club jackets were originally a predominantly male element of the wardrobe. But since all girls dream of dating popular athletic boys, the club jacket became a kind of love trophy.

Girls who managed to win the heart of a noble guy could silently talk about their relationship by appearing at an educational institution in a club jacket of a chosen one.

Now the popular jacket is very easy to recognize by style. It features wide ribbing at the sleeves, hem and neck, as well as a zip or press-studs at the front. The jacket is made of wool or cotton, and the sleeves are made of leather.

Club jackets have long gone beyond the walls of schools and universities and are ordered by professional sports clubs as a uniform for players.

Avid fans of American basketball, baseball or hockey are trying to join the famous players and wear jackets with branded emblems of their favorite teams.

But the real "club-jacket boom" can be seen among the stars of the world show business. Almost everyone flaunts in them - from popular rappers to pop artists and rockers.
