Gore-Tex Jackets
Nowadays, jackets that are made using Gore-Tex technology are incredibly popular. This is due to their practicality, the highest level of protective properties. In such jackets, snow, rain, wind and other vagaries of nature are not terrible.
Gore-Tex technology
Wilberg Gore, after leaving Du Pont, where he worked for 17 years, founded his own company in 1958. It all started as a small family business, where Wilberg's wife and son were directly involved.
Although Gore was an engineer, it was thanks to the experiments conducted by his son Bob that the Gortex technology was developed in 1969. Bob discovered the property of PTFE to acquire a strong, microporous structure. In addition, the material stretched superbly.
- Gore-Tex is a material system that includes three layers - outer, membrane and inner;
- The membrane is the thinnest film based on fluoroplastic, which has many microscopic holes;
- The smallest holes in the material provide the film with the opportunity for steam to pass through them, but at the same time not to let water through;
- Thanks to these properties, the steam emanating from a person in the form of sweat is effectively removed through the jacket, and raindrops falling from the sky simply repel the material without being absorbed inside.
Today, Gore-Tex offers three versions of its three-layer membrane material, which is widely used for tailoring.
- gore-tex. Optimum performance material that provides excellent protection and comfort to the person. This is the most popular and widely used type of membrane.
- active. The thinnest material with amazing breathability. Suitable for those who need a thin jacket that can release a lot of steam from the body. A prime example is running fans. But the material is characterized by instability to abrasion. Because of this, it is not recommended to use this type of membrane in particularly harsh conditions.
- Pro. The most dense membrane, which is characterized by increased density. An ideal find for fans of extreme sports who need reliable protection when playing sports.
