Today, you will not surprise anyone with any unique cosmetics that promote effective facial skin care. However, some products remain unchanged, as they are the most convenient, simple and affordable way to preserve the beauty and youthful appearance of a woman. These are, for example, creams containing natural or synthetic acids.

Acids are one of the basic natural elements. It is not surprising that in our time a large number of their variants and types are known, and some of them are successfully used not only in industry and pharmacology, but also in cosmetic procedures.

The purpose of acid cosmetics

The peculiarity of young skin is that it has certain internal reserves. All biological processes that are necessary to maintain its healthy appearance, as well as to combat various disorders, proceed without any outside help. After a certain time, without proper support and care, it is no longer possible to do.

The acids contained in special creams are a biological basis that is able to bring all the necessary components and energy reserves to the deep layers of the dermis.

In other words, such “additives” act as a kind of “intermediary”, which facilitates the penetration of other ingredients. In addition, they also cleanse the outer stratum corneum.

In order to achieve the maximum effect in the fight against dryness, irritation, excessive oiliness or the appearance of wrinkles, the addition of these compounds to cosmetics is simply necessary. In cosmetology, they are divided into two groups:

  • The so-called AHA acids. They are best used if you are faced with the task of combating age-related changes in the skin. This group has a good effect on the surface layers. Moisturizes, improves the natural production of collagen and elastin, and effectively eliminates unnecessary pigmentation. The functional task of such acids is to a greater extent to clean the upper layer of the dermis so that other components of the cream can have a deeper effect;
  • The BHA group of acids has a slightly different structure. They penetrate into the basal layers of the dermis, affect the sebaceous glands, cleanse the pores and eliminate black spots. Best of all manifest themselves when used on oily and problem skin.

Types and action

Today, a fairly large amount of natural acids is used in cosmetology. We have prepared a list of those compounds and creams with their composition that are most common:

  • Cosmetics with glycolic acid have good permeability into the thickness of the dermis. The main function of this component is the stimulation of natural cell regeneration, making glycolic acid ideal for combating age-related changes;
  • Azelaic is most often included in any product with AHA acids. It has a superficial effect that reduces inflammation, has a bactericidal effect, and also protects the dermis from the irritating effects of various external factors. Azelaic acid cream is often seen as a remedy for problematic skin prone to breakouts and acne;
  • Cream with fruit acids is considered the most gentle and soft in its effect. In it, these components are added in the form of natural extracts, so that they have a minimum irritating effect, cleanse the upper layers and provide additional nutrition;
  • You should choose cosmetics with alpha lipoic acid if you need a serious antioxidant. That is the effect of this "additive". The acid has the ability to bind and remove all harmful free radicals from the thickness of the dermis. Which enter it or are formed in the course of various biological processes;
  • Cream with kojic acid is ideal for brightening the skin and combating unwanted pigmentation. The most common ingredient in all freckle treatments;
  • Mandelic acid is another useful natural ingredient. It belongs to the ANA-type and is considered the softest in terms of effectiveness of its kind. Well suited for peeling and cleaning the upper layers of the dermis. Cream with mandelic acid is recommended for owners of problematic and sensitive skin types;
  • If you are facing the problem of skin aging, then the best choice would be a cream containing succinic acid.. Today, it occupies a leading position in pharmacology and cosmetology as a means to combat the premature death of body cells, especially the dermis;
  • Cosmetics with retinoic acid are most often used for active and aggressive chemical peels. Such procedures are carried out under the supervision of a professional cosmetologist, but a cream with a low content of this component can be used at home to cleanse the upper skin;
  • Vitamin C is known to many. As it turned out, it is needed not only for the whole body to strengthen immunity, but also separately for the skin, in order to ensure the preservation of all biological processes in it. To saturate with this vitamin, creams containing ascorbic and acetylsalicylic acid are suitable;
  • Fusidic acid belongs to the spectrum of antibiotics. It is good to use it when acne occurs, especially in adolescence;
  • Orotic acid helps retain natural moisture in skin cells. It also contributes to the normalization of all metabolic processes, stabilizes the work of the sebaceous glands;

Also quite often some kind of alpha hydroxy acid is used, which can be represented by lactic or tartaric acid. In addition, there are creams containing nicotinic, folic, and other alpha hydroxy acids.

Beneficial features

Due to the complex composition, which is based on acids, such creams have a lot of effects:

  • Regulation of the normal functioning of the sebaceous glands;
  • Elimination of excessive oily sheen, removal of fat from the thickness of the skin;
  • Combat dryness. Moisturizing and water retention in the deep layers of the dermis;
  • Stimulation of collagen and elastin production. Removal of wrinkles, giving normal elasticity;

Contraindications

You should choose a cream with special care, and it is advisable to consult a cosmetologist or even a doctor. The thing is that such products can cause excessive skin irritation, which is especially true for strong acids used in chemical peels. That is why women with sensitive skin should be especially careful.

You should also be wary of allergic reactions. Before using the cream, it is best to test by applying a little product to the skin of the hand and waiting 10-15 minutes.

Selection Tips

Choosing a face cream with an acid content is necessary based on what kind of problem you are going to solve, as well as taking into account the type of skin.

  • To remove pigments and cleanse the upper dermis acids of the AHA type are suitable, and for a deep therapeutic effect - BHA.
  • If you have problematic or oily skin, then you should pay attention to complex creams. The main components should be salicylic, hyaluronic and ascorbic acid, which effectively cleanse the skin, reduce oily sheen and eliminate blockage of the sebaceous glands.
  • But for dry skin, compounds that reduce the peeling of the upper layers of the dermis are suitable. And also penetrate inside, contribute to active hydration, water retention, the production of collagen and elastin.

Top Brands

Among the many manufacturers of cosmetics, there are favorites that have gained wide popularity among experienced cosmetologists and the main consumer - the fair sex.

For example, you should pay attention to pharmaceutical preparations like "Arcadia" and "Alpika". These are affordable creams of domestic production, which attract attention with a combination of efficiency and mild effect, thanks to the active use of natural ingredients.

More professional lines, for example, Kora, Collistar or Reviva Labs require a more careful approach to use. They have a pronounced cleansing and nourishing effect, however, it is better to coordinate the selection of a product from a similar series with your beautician.

How to cook with your own hands

There is also a cheaper version of this tool. You can add acid directly to the base of a fatty cream.

A neutral baby cream is well suited for preparation, which has a gentle effect on the skin, and also softens the influence of other components if you are going to use such a cleanser.

Almost any acid can be found in a pharmacy. The liquid version in ampoules is best, however, preparations such as salicylic acid, for example, are sold in tablets or capsules, so the powder will have to be mixed thoroughly.

In addition, it is recommended to add vitamins and other nutritional components. This is especially true if your skin needs extra hydration, suffers from discoloration and irritation.
