Facial foam is a light cleanser suitable for all skin types, especially for oily or problem skin. It not only has a good effect on inflammation and acne, but is also able to even out skin tone and rid its deep layers of impurities accumulated during the day - dust and makeup.

Peculiarities

The main difference between facial foam and mousse, gel or other cleanser is its gentle, non-traumatic formula. Initially, the product is a pearlescent gel for washing, viscous in consistency. But when it comes into contact with water, the foam begins to actively lather - if you lather your face without additional means, it turns out to be thick, if with the help of a sponge or cognac - it is really soapy, airy and light.

Foams can be a little drying, so they are not recommended for people with dry and flaky skin. However, for such cases, there are special moisturizing and nourishing foams, so you should not prematurely abandon this remedy.

Also, the foam is very economical - for one wash you need only an amount of a pea, and if you use a jar for whipping foam or a sponge - a total of less.

What is needed for

The foam is designed for high-quality deep and at the same time non-traumatic facial skin care. It is an excellent remedy for both teenagers and those with mature skin, suitable even for men.

The foam penetrates into the deep layers of the skin and, what is very important, does not injure, it is very gentle, but actively cleanses the pores and prevents the formation of new inflammations.

The tool is able to cleanse the skin of makeup and impurities, maintains the water balance of the skin and washes away dust. Due to deep penetration into the dermis, it exfoliates dead skin and unhealthy skin particles.

Kinds

Facial cleansers are divided into several types depending on their purpose. Of course, it is quite logical that foams are divided into those suitable for different skin types: oily, mixed (combination), dry, sensitive, problematic and normal. However, one way or another, any type of dermis needs something specific. That is why, in addition, cleansers, whether it be gel, foam or mousse, are divided according to their functionality into:

  1. Cleansing. The most common option, suitable for ladies who do not have any special skin problems. Includes antiseptic and soothing ingredients.
  2. Oxygen. When used once or twice a week, they can replace a facial scrub - the cleansing is more gentle than that of a scrub, but still deeper than in the case of a simple cleansing foam.
  3. Moisturizing. Suitable for sensitive, problematic (if used a couple of times a week) and dry skin. Includes active moisturizing and nourishing ingredients, but does not leave an unpleasant film on the skin.
  4. For make-up removal. It differs from others in that it has a more gentle composition, thanks to which it can be used on sensitive skin around the eyes without the risk of irritation of the mucous membrane.
  5. Mattifying. Ideal for oily, combination and problem skin. Its main advantage lies in the deep cleansing of pores, their closure and getting rid of oily sheen. Thanks to washing with this foam, its appearance can be delayed for a couple of hours.

Also, foams are divided by consistency.

  1. Thick paste in tubes, bottles or jars. The best one can be considered the one that needs to be whipped on its own, or better with the help of a sponge or a face wash.
  2. Gel consistency in vials and tubes. As well as thick paste requires foaming with the addition of water.
  3. In the form of air mousse. This foam is packed in a bottle with a pump dispenser and pre-whipped. The most uneconomical option, and the foam is not as elastic and dense as in the other two options.

Compound

The higher in the list of ingredients a component is located, the greater its amount is contained in the composition. As a rule, the first positions in the list are water (thermal or mineral, water-based products are the most common) and various lathering substances, as well as extracts - green tea, chamomile, milk.

Further, the composition differs from the purpose of the foam. In products for mature skin, placenta, hyaluronic acid can quite deservedly be present, snail foams with pantohematogen or coenzyme Q10 are especially popular.

In foam against pimples and acne and for problem skin there will be various essential oils (tea tree, mint, citrus, coniferous, rosemary, since they have both drying and tonic, healing effects), aloe, salicylic acid, yeast with sulfur, zinc, charcoal or activated charcoal. Very effective means with acids - alpha and beta hydro-acids. Listed as AHA and BHA.

Remember that acid products are used only in winter, as they are incompatible with the active sun. Foam with hyaluronic acid does not apply.

For dry sensitive or thin facial skin suitable chamomile and milk foam, coconut, with rice bran, lactoferrin, bamboo and volcanic ash, which does not cause allergies. Blueberry or grape foam perfectly moisturizes any type of skin, egg foam is also virtually universal.

The composition of the foam should not include aggressive silicones (sulfates) and parabens - natives of the chemical industry, characterized in that they, accumulating in the deep layers of the skin, clog pores, prevent the penetration of oxygen and provoke new inflammations.

The compositions are referred to as SLS and Paraben, and the most dangerous of them are Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Ammonium Laryl Sulfate. Parabens are extremely rare in facial products. Mineral oil, derived from petroleum refining, acts similarly to silicones and is referred to as Mineral Oil. Fragrances (parfum) in foams, as a rule, are at the end of the composition and do not carry much harm. An interesting feature is that if there is an asterisk (*) after the word parfum, it means that it is a fragrance of natural production, below is a description of the essential oils that make up its composition. On the packaging of natural foam should be written "without sulfates, parabens and silicones."

Benefit and harm

Like any remedy, even such a gentle one has its negative properties. For example:

  1. Incorrectly selected foam can exacerbate skin problems. In this case, you need to carefully look at its composition.
  2. It can also dry out the skin. The point here is the wrong selection of funds, as well as insufficient moisturizing and toning after washing.
  3. Foam for washing, like any non-pharmacy facial product, can cause significant damage to the skin with open wounds or stitches after operations.
  4. The same goes for atopic dermatitis.

Of the useful properties of foams, the main ones can be distinguished:

  1. Regulates the work of the sebaceous glands.
  2. Rejuvenates (with properly selected compositions and the mark "for mature skin")
  3. Prevents the appearance of pimples and acne, regulates inflammation and brightens post-acne and age spots.
  4. Moisturizes.
  5. And, of course, thoroughly and gently cleanses.

If we talk about Korean foams, then you should pay attention to the firms Holika Holika, Tony Moly, Secret Kay, Missha and Mizon.

Foam is not necessarily the brainchild of Japanese, Korean or European manufacturers. And domestic ones have a couple of products that you will like.

How to choose

The process of selecting cosmetics is individual and often causes certain difficulties. There are several "whales", focusing on which you can choose almost any face product, including foam.

  1. Focus on your skin type. Since foam is a skin product, its type plays almost the most important role. It is clear that a remedy for dry skin will never be suitable for oily skin, and “washes” for mature ones will not have a wow effect for young girls.
  2. Don't forget to pay attention to the labels. No matter how manufacturers praise their funds and call them the best, if you discard unnecessary epithets, you can get fairly reliable information about the functions of the product. It is unlikely that a product intended for moisturizing will dry.
  3. Read reviews. The opinion of ordinary buyers like you can be much more useful. Read the opinions of other customers, compare with what is written on the label and with what you need. Thanks to this, you can make a full analysis of the tool.
  4. Look carefully at the price / quality ratio. Despite the fact that mass market prices are much lower than luxury or pharmacy cosmetics, remember that you can’t buy the cheapest product without looking - for your own safety, find information about it. Also, the price depends on where you buy the product - in a pharmacy or a large chain of branded stores it will always be a little cheaper than in online stores (due to delivery) or in supermarkets. Remember that in the case of Korean foams, this item is not particularly important - since they are considered the safest and it is quite possible to find a good remedy for literally 300-400 rubles. But pay attention to the expiration date and the integrity of the package. This applies to any cosmetic product.
  5. Alternate one foam with others or change according to the time of year. This is done so that the skin is not used to one remedy and it does not become less effective. For example, if you are the owner of problematic or dry skin, you can wash your face with foam in the morning, wash off your makeup with it, and at night use antiseptic healing "washes" - tar, sulfur or boron soap, for example. For dry skin, mousse is a good alternative. There is also the option of using two different foams - for example, tonic in the morning and soothing at night.

How to DIY

It is not necessary to buy a ready-made facial wash, you can try to make it yourself. To do this, you will need a soap base, distilled water, base oil and a couple of drops of any essential oil (for dry skin, it is better to use lavender, rose, tangerine or lemon, for oily or problematic - rosemary, mint, lemon or fir), as well as bee wax.

The ingredients (with the exception of the essential oil) are thoroughly mixed and placed in a water bath. Next, the product must be whipped with a mixer into a light foam, while adding esters three to four drops each. The finished foam is placed in a glass container and sent to a cool dark place.

See the video below for how to make your own face wash.

How to use

There are several ways to use this tool. The first is traditional European. In this case, you need to take a drop of foam, lather it a little in the palms of your hands and apply it on wet face skin. The foam is thick and dense. It is believed that this option is not suitable for oily and combination skin, since the active substances do not penetrate deep enough into the skin.

For the second, safer option, you will need a silicone sponge, foam mesh or cognac sponge. You will need to take the same pea of the product and beat it well into foam on a wet sponge / mesh, apply to pre-moistened skin and, moving along the massage lines from the center of the face to the periphery, cleanse the skin, then rinse off the foam.

This method is traditional for Asian women - Koreans and Japanese women. They also have several separate skin care systems that include foam - for example, 424.

According to the rules of this system, you need to spend four minutes removing makeup with oil, two minutes with whipped foam, and again four minutes washing your face with cool water to close pores and tone the dermis.

Reviews

If we are talking about foams for mature skin, then you need to pay attention to Korean manufacturers. For example, on foam from "Secret Key Snail+EGF Repairing Foam" has a rating of 4, 5 and completely positive reviews. Indeed, even the most flabby skin after its use looks more toned. The tool seems to brighten the skin tone, which is why the face as a whole looks refreshed.

It's all about the composition - the secret of the snail has bright anti-aging properties, and EGF - epidermal cell growth factor - a polypeptide, thanks to which the skin is updated much faster. The tool is quite cheap - no more than 500 rubles.

Foam "One Hundred Beauty Recipes" "Moisturizing and Freshness" has a rating of 4, but completely negative, even repulsive reviews. Choir customers do not recommend it. And here's why - in the composition of one chemistry, all natural components are at the end of the list, which indicates their low concentration. The product can cause irritation and dry out the skin. Skin feels tight after use.

It costs about 60 rubles, which is below the norm, so the price / quality ratio here is the same.

Reviews on the foam of another popular Russian manufacturer "Clean Line" with chamomile extract is also not enthusiastic - however, unlike the previous means, they are still there. The average rating is 3.7, the price is also about 70 rubles per 100 ml. On the positive side, the smoothness and softness of the skin after washing can be noted. It does not clog pores and does not dry the skin - and this is one of the main advantages of the foam. Perhaps suitable for owners of dry or normal non-problem skin, but for oily and combination skin it will be rather weak.

Of the minuses, it does not wash off makeup, even completely ordinary products like eyeliner or eyebrows, to say nothing of foundation and matte lipstick. In general, it is difficult to wash off, there is a feeling of stickiness.

The average rating of foam "Avene Mousse Nettoyante" is 4.7. The composition is generally good, however, there is a dangerous substance - Disodium EDTA, which irritates the skin if it is overexposed or not washed off. However, the foam is a washable agent, so customers reduce one hundredth of a rating point for this. The tool is very convenient to use - the dispenser produces a thick soft foam, easy to apply and rinse off.

However, it dries sensitive skin and is not suitable for removing eye makeup for everyone - it leaves stains from mascara under the eyes.

Foam "D'oliva Mild schaumendes washgel" has a rating of 3, 9, but overall good reviews - there are also enthusiastic customers, and those in whom the remedy did not cause joy, but did not worsen what was. The product foams well, the foam gives a thin and almost transparent, the bubbles are small. Smells like herbs and olives. Perfectly washes away cosmetic oils and make-up even from the eyes, without injuring sensitive skin and mucous membranes.

Evens out skin tone and reduces breakouts without clogging pores or causing acne. The skin is soft and smooth, the shine does not appear a little longer. Happy with the price.

"Evisent" with yeast and sulfur is an indispensable tool for owners of oily and problem skin with a lot of acne and inflammation. Additional ingredients are fruit acids and anti-inflammatory extracts. Smells like green tea. Directly by function - perfectly removes makeup, including powder and foundation, does not dry at all, the skin is moisturized and clean.

However, the reduction of pores was not noticed, but their cleansing - yes. Helps relieve irritation and fight germs. Rating - 4.2.
