Hair creates an important basis for the female image - a beautiful hairstyle can truly transform a girl. And it is the color of the hair that plays a significant role here, so it is important that it be even and bright. Correctors can help with this - pure color pigments that can neutralize unwanted shades and enhance the desired ones.

What it is?

A hair corrector, or a mixton, is a color in its purest form. That is, yellow, purple or any other. It can be used alone for creative coloring, mixed with each other, and also used to give a certain shade of brightness or neutralize it.

Palette

Choosing a mixton is an individual matter and depends on your original hair color and the effect you want to achieve. In either case, the hue is selected using the color wheel. For example, if you need to eliminate the greenish tint in the hair, you should take the shade opposite to the green on the circle. It's red.

Color wheels are divided into three categories - primary, secondary and tertiary.

  • Primary - this is a mixton in its purest form, independent colors, for example, yellow and blue.
  • Secondaries are obtained by mixing them (for example, blue and yellow together make green).
  • Tertiary dyes are not used.

There are many shades of mixton. For example, yellow makes reds, coppers and browns warmer and removes unwanted purple pigment. Orange just adds saturation to warm tones. Red neutralizes green and, of course, harmonizes with copper and red hues. Violet neutralizes yellowness and gives an ashy tint (the same goes for gray, graphite or silver mixton). Blue neutralizes orange, green neutralizes red.

There is also a colorless corrector - it is used for glazing and laminating, it adds shine, improves the structure, makes the curls more dense and healthy, and changes the saturation. In turn, it is divided into ammonia and non-ammonia. The ammonia-free ones reduce saturation, so you can achieve a delicate pastel or light shade. Ammonia is aimed at clarification, used with 3% and 6% oxidizing agents or mixed with dyes.

Which removes yellowness?

Blondes most often want to remove an unpleasant yellow tint - natural or dyed, and girls with light brown hair. In this case, they will be helped by purple and blue correctors, created specifically to give the hair a cold or neutral ash shade.

Manufacturers

Brand correctors are especially popular Estel Correct. They are distinguished by affordable prices and professional quality. Represents both colored and colorless mixtons in the line.

The brand also has a series of "Estel Deluxe". Unlike Correct, this line is ammonia-free and more gentle on the hair. It is with an oxidizing agent of 1.5% from this series that you can tint your hair in the desired shade without loss of quality.

Ollin Professional is a professional hair care brand that produces two lines of correctors. The first one is "sense line", is actively used to close black and other rich dark shades. After applying the mixton, the hair is quite soft immediately after use, but the stiffness of the tips is still present - but this is normal for any chemical effect on the hair, you just need to add a few nutritional ampoules to the paint / corrector or make a moisturizing oil mask before the next wash.

The second one is "Service Line color corrector". The cost of this corrector is about 400 rubles for 2 tubes of 125 ml of the product, and the package contains instructions for use. The aroma of the corrector is not pleasing, but on the other hand, it does not cause any unpleasant sensations during dyeing or after - it only dries the tips a little and, of course, changes the structure of the hair, so after that they must be treated with masks or oil mixtures. Does not contain ammonia, brighteners, can only be used with ammonia paints and oxidizing agents for them.

Kapous Professional - a fairly well-known company, familiar to many for high-quality hair dyes. Of course, like any self-respecting company, it also produces a color corrector, the main purpose of which is to wash away unwanted color and enhance the opposite.

The ash corrector from this company is very popular, but in addition to it, Kapous Professional has gold, purple, blue, copper and red tones.

How to use?

Of course, before use, you need to read the instructions.

To neutralize a certain color, use the opposite tone on the color wheel. To add brightness and saturation, choose a corrector tone that is close in number, for example, in the case of shade 6.71 (dark blond brown ash), you can choose correctors 0.11 or 0.77 - the former will enhance the purple pigment, thus driving the redhead, and the latter will make brown more saturated.

Focus on the subtone of the dye - these are two numbers after the dot.

And to give brightness, you need to take into account that the amount of corrector should not exceed one fourth of the paint. For example, take 45 instead of 60 grams of paint and add 15 grams of mixton, remembering that the amount of oxidizing agent does not change.

How to add?

When choosing a corrector, it is worth considering not only the shade, but also its proportions. So, for example, for light shades, you need to take a smaller amount of mixton than for dark ones, since they are often more porous and prone to damage and cross-section.

In general, the Rule of Ten or the Rule of Eleven is used to calculate the required amount of corrector.

In the first case, the formula looks like this - 10 - the desired shade (you can see it on the technological map at the hairdresser or on the package with paint. For example, light blond is indicated by the number 7, i.e. 10 - 7). In the case of our example, it turns out 10-7=3. So, in this case, we take 57 grams of paint, 60 oxidizers and 3 grams (or centimeters) of corrector.

According to the Rule of Eleven, the principle is similar, only the tone is already subtracted from 11. The difference between this and the previous shade is that different brands have either 10 or 11 colors in the rulers and you need to choose a method based on this.

Is it possible to dye hair with a mixton?

An ammonia-free corrector can be used as an independent dye on a clarified base - best of all with a 3% oxidizing agent. When it comes to ammonia mixtons, then opt for a 1.5% oxidizing agent. But this color lasts for about two weeks, and if you want to slightly change the shade, then it is better to make a full-fledged coloring with the addition of a corrector to the paint or choose a 1.5% tint. Also, as an option, get tinted shampoos or creams.

Reviews

Reviews for funds from Ollin Professional are average, but in general, the girls highlight the fact that both lines can be used at home by simply reading the instructions. "Service Line color corrector" has a rating of 4.5, a low price stands out. When you purchase, you will have two numbered tubes that you need to mix in the same proportion. Using this mixton is very simple, and with proper skill, the result will only please you. Hair after its use is in good condition and does not require therapy.

The Sensetive line rating is lower - 3.6, but blondes praise it very much - the unwanted shade disappears in just ten minutes. It also removes stubborn paint and creative tones very well, so it can also be used as a wash. After the hair looks alive and silky, the color is even, the texture is smooth and without the use of specialized products. The corrector works very gently, but effectively.

Despite the fact that there are not so many reviews on the color corrector from Kapous Professional, the product has a solid rating of 5. You can immediately distinguish a variety of shades - there are six of them as standard, so everyone can find something for themselves. It is recommended to use a corrector with paint from the same company, a 3% oxidizing agent and add five to seven drops of Kapous Helix protective oil to prevent dryness and cross-section.It is this mixton that perfectly removes red and red spots, helps to get rid of unwanted “greens” on the head, and makes the shade of hair after dyeing neutral or noble cold.
