Women have always loved to wear bracelets, even in the most ancient times. Then such an ornament could emphasize family status, as well as indicate prosperity in the family. But even today, the beautiful half of humanity is trying in this way to somehow stand out from the crowd, even if it is simple jewelry with pearls.

The shape and material of the bracelet is far from the last thing, because they betray the taste of their owner, as well as her addictions. It is believed that only a refined person who is confident in her taste and irresistibility will wear a pearl bracelet or earrings with pearls. Such decoration will certainly emphasize its tenderness and fragility.

People with aesthetic taste will tell you that such jewelry is worthy of all times, since pearls were valued both in antiquity and today.. The gentle mother-of-pearl radiance of this mineral can captivate your eyes, inspire the spirit of romance - it is not for nothing that there are so many different legends and mystical stories about pearls.

Almost every nationality has such legends that explain how such an unusual mineral is formed. In Indian legends, the formation of this stone is associated with a drop of rain that fell into the shell. Eastern peoples call pearls moonlight, which is forever frozen in the shell.

There are also beliefs that reveal the secret of Cleopatra's beauty and youth - supposedly the Egyptian queen made a tincture in which the pink mineral was dissolved in vinegar.

But for today's science there are no secrets, and it has long explained how such magnificent minerals are obtained. In the shell of a mollusk, any foreign body carried by a water stream (for example, a grain of sand) is immediately attacked by this invertebrate, which, defending itself, begins to envelop it with mother-of-pearl layers.

It may take up to ten years for a grain of sand to turn into something useful and to turn into a real pearl., and only then a small shiny bead will be able to become an ornament on a cute female hand or on her evening dress.

Varieties

Pearls can be wild or natural. This species is grown in the shells of marine and freshwater mollusks under natural conditions. Pearl seekers sometimes manage to pick up quite large specimens from the seabed, but in rivers, the size of this organic material is much smaller than that found in salt water. Accordingly, the cost of sea pearls is very high, and river pearls are more democratic.

Today, such pearls are almost never mined, but they learned how to grow them for jewelry on special farms. The Chinese learned how to do this a long time ago - back in the 13th century, but this business took on an industrial scale only by the end of the 19th century.

Natural pearls are divided into the following types:

  • its elite variety is brought from the Indian and Pacific coasts, dubbed "Pearl from the South Sea". These are pearls of a warm shade with a diameter of 9-20 mm;
  • pearls called "Akoya" are exported from two areas - these are the islands of Honshu and Kyushu. These are relatively small pearls (6-8 mm) of light green, silver or golden color. In rare cases, pinkish or bluish specimens may be caught. Jewelery made of such pearls, which are made at the Mikura, Misaki and Mimikoto firms, are in great demand today;
  • perhaps the most expensive and at the same time rare type of black pearl mined in the south of the Pacific coast. It is called the "Black Pearl of Tahiti", and one pearl can cost up to $10,000;
  • large minerals are also produced on the California coast, they can reach 14 mm in diameter, have beautiful mother-of-pearl layers and are called "Pearls of Cortez".

This mineral is also artificial. The Romans had a way of filling glass beads with paraffin and then covering them with recycled fish scales. The Indians used mother-of-pearl or just clay and mica as a coating for making beads.

But real high-quality artificial pearls began to be made only in the 19th century at Majorica, a company in Spain. It turns out a durable product, the characteristics of which are very reminiscent of a natural mineral.

Bracelets made from mabe pearls are also quite popular.. Natural here is only the shell, which is grown in shells. In this case, epoxy resin is used as a filler, and mother-of-pearl is used as a coating.

In the last century, an imitation of this mineral called "Shell Pearl" was also very common. This type of artificial pearl is obtained by applying several layers of varnish to the beads.

The famous Coco Chanel has become a trendsetter in faux pearls., which could put on several of these jewelry at the same time.

How to choose and what to wear

A pearl bracelet can look very harmonious in combination with clothes for every day. An excellent solution in this case would be a product in the form of a pearl string of river origin.

When choosing clothes for the office, etiquette should be observed. For serious institutions, as a rule, eye-catching products are not suitable. A dress for work or a suit will look great with a short pearl necklace, a bracelet in combination with small stud earrings, which are decorated with one or more pearls.

The presence of a pearl bracelet in the bride's outfit looks perfect.

It is only necessary to choose the type of pearls that is most suitable for the wedding dress by tone.. There is a kind of wedding etiquette, according to which the bride's necklace should cover her collarbones, the bracelet should not be too tight, but it should not hang on the arm either, and earrings can be long only with long hair.

Evening dress will look even richer in combination with a pearl bracelet. For example, with the classic charming bracelet of the Jewelry House "De Fleur", made of freshwater white pearls.

Moreover, the owner of jewelry may not limit herself in her choice.

If the evening dress is made in one tone, white jewelry will look good on it. Multi-row to choose bracelets or not - depends on the style of the dress.

If you want to emphasize your pearl accessory on your hand, choose an unusual color of pearls.

Selection rules

Natural pearls are able to emphasize even the skin tone, the attractiveness of manicure and, in general, make the image of a woman more fresh and original.

Another find of modern designers is a fantasy associated with decorating a woman's legs. If you have a thin camp, then it is easy to emphasize its beauty by simply wearing a pearl bracelet on the ankle. Although designers recommend wearing this accessory with a leather outfit or with elements that have metal components.

Whatever outfit you choose - a summer sundress, a strict evening dress or an outfit for a cocktail - in any case, pearls can harmoniously fit in and will be relevant at an event of any theme. It is worth noting that pearls look especially attractive when framed in natural gold in the form of a thin rim.

Irregularly shaped pearls are considered the latest fashion statement. These are Dutch pieces in which the beads can be represented as birds, beasts or just special symbols and are considered very elegant today.

Entering a jewelry store today, you can lose your head from the variety of jewelry made using this mineral. For a long time, pearls were caught in huge quantities in order to select only those stones whose shape was perfectly even.

Today, they mainly use artificially grown pearls, and natural ones are very, very expensive.

But artificial cultivation also has its advantages, and the method, which was invented in antiquity, when an irritant was introduced into the mollusk, today it has been improved to such an extent that caring for it allows you to get pearls of different shapes and shades. And the most popular today are bracelets with black pearls of a greenish tint and, of course, classic white, as evidenced by numerous customer reviews.
