Nike sports bracelet
The era of fitness bracelets is far from over. A healthy lifestyle is now in trend, as are all accessories that make it easier to maintain. Some of the fitness bracelets are Nike+Fuel Band and its sequel Fuel Band SE, which track the user's physical activity throughout the day.
This device is worn on the hand and with the help of the built-in accelerometer fixes the number of steps taken.
More expensive models can track the phases of sleep and distinguish between deep and superficial, after which they wake the user up with vibration at the optimal moment for his biorhythms. All bracelets are connected to a smartphone wirelessly and synchronized with the application. The application maintains a fitness diary, where all data from the device is entered.
Peculiarities
"Nike+Fuel Band" made of durable and very light material - silicone, which is not felt on the hand.
The clasp is designed in such a way that it cannot accidentally unfasten. In addition, it is also a USB connector for charging.
Since this device is supposed to be worn around the clock, its body is completely moisture resistant.
This does not mean that you can arrange swims in the pool with it, but it is quite possible to take a shower. Separately, it should be said that the device does not accept sea water. Do not put it on immediately after you get out of the sea, let your hand dry.
The bracelet is available in three sizes (small (S), medium (M) and large (L)), while it has two additional removable phalanxes for more precise size adjustment.
On the body is located LED display with information about the date and time in 12 or 24-hour format, battery and memory control, calories burned and the number of steps taken. Depending on the settings, it can show how much time is left for you to reach the goal and notify you with a sound signal when the goal is reached.
The battery capacity is enough for a week of daily use. A full charge is achieved within 40 minutes.
How to use
Before using the bracelet for the first time "Nike+Fuel Band" must be fully charged. By the time it will take two hours. If this is not done, then the device simply will not turn on.
After charging, the bracelet "calibrates" to the needs of a particular user. This is done using an application on a smartphone, but you will either have to register or activate an existing account on Nike+.
After connecting, you need to enter your parameters: height, weight, age and gender, as well as indicate which hand the bracelet will be worn on. In some miraculous way, this information affects the location of the screen - it will always be turned to face you.
All information about daily activity is recorded on the built-in memory of the device. At the end of the day, you connect it to a PC or sync it with an Apple phone, the data is transferred to the account, and the memory is automatically cleared.
Although the data on the bracelet and account are synchronized, you can reset the bracelet settings while saving them in your account.If you simply unlink the bracelet from your account, then the data on the bracelet is saved.
How activity is recorded
All daily activity in steps is converted into points NikeFuel. These scores are displayed in the app. The translation process itself is interesting: first, the steps are converted into points, then the points, taking into account your main parameters (gender, height, weight, age), are converted into calories burned.
It is believed that the standard energy expenditure per day is 2000 points, if you scored 3000, then you led a fairly active life, and if you scored 5000, then you were super active. If you prefer to train in the gym, then it is best to choose cardio on the step, because while walking, the hands are most involved, which gives a real idea of \u200b\u200bthe movement. For one football match, a playing man is able to score from 2000 to 3000 points.
Each day is divided into 20 segments, regardless of the chosen goal. In the morning, a red lamp is lit on the bracelet, which means the beginning of activity. If the goal is reached by the end of the day, the lamp lights up green.
Advantages and disadvantages
Pros:
- You can choose the size of the bracelet before buying it by printing a file from the site, which shows the bracelet in real size and the dotted line indicates the boundaries along which the hole should be cut. An important addition is that the bracelet of any size has additional removable sections - just in case;
- you can not bother yourself with counting steps and calories, turn off all indicators, leaving only points. Use them to track activity;
- the bracelet is synchronized with one account. This means that the data of other users who wear your bracelet will not get into your account. True, before you give the device a vilification to a friend, you will have to untie it from your profile;
- There is an airplane mode that turns off all wireless activity of the bracelet if you get on a plane;
- The brightness of the display depends on the brightness of the lighting - the brighter the day, the brighter the display.
Minuses:
- the bracelet tracks activity only with your hands. That is, if you ride a bicycle, but at the same time your hands are motionless, then activity is not recorded in your diary. This is a huge minus;
- the bracelet does not understand whether you are working with your own weight or with weights. It is impossible to set this parameter in the settings, so everything is the same for him: whether you run just like that or in a full soldier's outfit;
- the silicone case attracts dust, every lint and thread is visible on it;
- does not sync with phones on operating systems other than iOS.
"Fuel Band SE"
After the pilot model of the fitness device, a second model "Nike FuelBand SE" was released. It is made of silicone, similar to the first version, but has some functional differences:
- the bracelet gives the user a signal if he lingers in one place without moving for a long time. In fact, a controversial function, because in sedentary work one way or another you will have to be in one place, and the signal will often be annoying. But on the other hand, after an hour of immobility, a warm-up is required for 5 minutes;
- the bracelet itself can recognize the type of activity. Now you can’t spend it by passing off household activities in the form of washing floors or working with a vacuum cleaner for running or fitness training. He sees the difference and has a different number of points;
- time can now be displayed on the screen without scrolling through the menu, but simply by pressing the button twice;
- you can choose to populate the display with tabs for various functions;
- the presence of a new function Nike+ Sessions, which allows you to record the time spent by the user in the gym.In each session, points are calculated per minute.
Additionally, this model received an increased capacity battery, more accurate sensors to determine the position of a person in space.
Externally, the sports bracelet also differs from the first model. Inside there is a colored insert: pink, red, silver, raspberry and yellow. And of course, the classic strict black version. True, the insert is located strangely, it is not visible when the bracelet is put on the hand, but such a variety is still nice.

Summary
Unfortunately, neither the first nor the second model is equipped with a sleep tracking function, like their direct competitor from Jawbone. But the manufacturer got out and offered users to track sleep through the same session function in the application. But how to be those who do not have iPhone and synchronized with the application via a PC, it is not clear.
Well, it’s also not very pleasant that the proprietary application does not have a Russian-language interface. On the one hand, everyone has basic knowledge of English, but on the other hand, it can be difficult to understand the scoring system and specific functional settings.
Fitness bracelets Nike belong to the high price segment. The estimated cost of these devices in our market is from 15,000 to 18,000 rubles. Pretty expensive toy with limited functionality. Such money can be given for a bracelet with the function of a “smart” alarm clock, which tracks activity not only when waving hands, but also when riding a bicycle.
