Boots
  1. About the brand
  2. "I recognize a sweetheart by his gait"

Some wardrobe items have firmly entered the history of fashion. Nariman boots are one of the stylish trends of yesteryear that is still not forgotten.

About the brand

NARIMAN - a large haberdashery corporation that once existed, producing various goods. The assortment of the company included shoes, all kinds of accessories for clothes, umbrellas, raincoats.

The boots, created by the company more than 150 years ago, brought her wide popularity. It was in these shoes that the king of rock and roll Elvis Presley walked. It was in them that the legendary Freddie Mercury performed. And it was these shoes that we remembered in our favorite film about Ostap Bender.

"I recognize a sweetheart by his gait"

Who has not heard the fervent song of Garik Sukachev about the easily recognizable gait of the chosen one? And for sure, many wondered what kind of shoes are mentioned there.

This song was originally performed by Yuri Morfessi. Popular in the 1920s, the Russian pop and opera singer had a versatile repertoire. In the first version of this song, one could clearly hear about the boots "on rips". What does this mean? Here the word "rip" was used in the meaning of "creak".

The fact is that at the beginning of the 20th century, boots with a creak were very popular in Russia. Oddly enough, the creaking sound made when walking was considered an element of a fashionable image. The creak was made by boots with wooden soles. Most often, birch was used to create them.Sometimes shoemakers went to the trick and made inserts in the leather soles of men's shoes from dry birch bark or sugar. After a couple of months, the boots became silent and the special “chic” disappeared.

Is it hard to believe in the reality of such a trend? The nature of the fashion trends of that time is also proved by another famous song, which mentions “shoes with a terrible creak”.

However, from the song about the cute "rips" disappeared. Garik Sukachev is not involved in changing the words. In the later speeches of Morfessy, a change in the reference to "rips" to the word "nariman" was already noticeable.

The correction of the words was associated with the singer's move to France. It was obvious that it would be difficult for foreigners to understand the fashion for squeaky shoes. This was reflected in the meaning of the song, so it was easier to replace the words.

In the Soviet Union, the trend towards "noisy" shoes continued for a long time. Fashionistas wore creaky boots until the 50s. The working class was especially fond of this fashion. It was nice for any guy to walk down the street, letting passers-by know that a real dude was walking.

But why still Nariman? After all, Morfessi did not accidentally choose this word for his song.

At that time, there was only one large company engaged in the production of fashionable shoes. It was the Nariman Corporation. The full name was North Association Russian Imperial Merchandise Apparels Nationwide.

The two-color model of boots was considered a classic of Nariman. The upper part of the product was white, while the toe and heel were made in black. The originality of the style and the convenience of shoes immediately won the hearts of fashion connoisseurs.

The original versions of the boots were made of leather. Cheaper versions for a wide range of consumers were combined. In such models, only the lower part of the boots was leather.Canvas was used for the upper part of the product.

Another characteristic detail of the model is the buttons on the outer part of the product, fixing the boot on the leg. They gave the shoes a special charm.

A modern take on the original Nariman, comfortable and stylish Chelsea Boots. In this model, the buttons have been replaced by an elastic band, which provides comfort and allows people with different leg widths to wear boots. These shoes are made of leather or suede. Boots can have an elastic band matched to the material of the product, or combine two contrasting colors.

There is another version: Nariman shoes are the most common, with one difference that they were made in Azerbaijan at the Nariman shoe factory, named after the Azerbaijani writer Nariman Kerbalai.

Only new shoes had a creak, which emphasized the viability of the fashionista and the fact that he was a highly cultured representative of the bourgeois class intelligentsia ...)))

In the twenties of the last century, the first secretary of Azerbaijan was Nariman Narimanov, he wore such shoes.

Now imagine the breeches worn with boots.

It is not necessary for the "cute" to wear all this at the same time.

Jodhpurs, a panama hat and Nariman boots - a complete waste, probably for that time.

A hat on a panama, that is, over a panama - this always haunted me. Who wears a hat over a panama? Maybe this is what we are talking about here: Orthodox Jews wear hats over a yarmulke (small cap). Perhaps the girl in this song called the yarmulke panama.
